The first post to my question and you want to start a pizzing contest on the definition of the word 'rival?'

Every team in the NFL is going after the same prize---to win the SB. Every team in the league is a rival to the Cardinals because they are all competing for the same goal. What rival dictionary did you use to come up with your definition of 'rival?' There is nothig in the basic defintion that says anything about playing two games or fighting for playoff standings.

The team I consider the 'most hated rival' for the Cardinals will most likely be different from that selected by another Cardinal fan. There is no right answer---I don't have to 'guess again.'

Do you want to talk football or do you want to talk dictionary definitions?

I like your style Gimme.

The Dallas Cowboys, hate like this runs deep and it does not go away so easily lol

+1

Every other team is a distant second.

Not really down on any of the division teams right now, not particularly a fan of the Seachickens but it is nothing compared to the days of the Walrus, Matt Hasselwhine, and Shaun Alexander....I hated that team.

My favorite play, easily.

But, it is WAY WAY better to hear Troy Aikman, and Sam Rosen practically crying about the Cowboys losing.

I will always remember Troy Aikman, saying, "disappointing" as Beisel goes into the endzone.

Most exciting play of the game and the two "Cowboys announcers", since that is what they were, acting like they were at a funeral.

That was also the game where Tony Romo was sacked twice, and one was a tuck rule, and the other was "the whistle blew before the ball came out". It was a joke from start to finish, and the Cardinals won anyway.

Great game.

Funny side note, Sam Rosen has become a closet Cardinal fan.

And here's some ranting by a Cowpie fan after the Cards beat them on Christmas a few years ago. Check out his attitude---that is the way the Cowpie fans have looked at the Cardinals for YEARS. And that is why it is so sweet to beat them and watch Jerry squirt his shorts. Caution: Some foul language by this Cowpie fan. LOL.

I've lived in Dallas my whole life & been a Big Red since the early '70s & cherish everytime we beat those *********. Keep coming to Arizona & getting ur ass kicked cry baby's...though you own us in big D as well. I luv watching JJs wax face melt off every time the Cardiac Cards when 1 late against them! Wish I could take a dump on the star this year at midfield of Jones palace! Lol

Btw here's my review to that chump :D...suck it loser & stop your cryin that game should've been longgggg over before that missed XP

Of all the times we beat that Cowboys in the regular season, I enjoyed that one as much as any. Probably because even though they sucked that year, and we sucked that year, their fans were acting like they were coming off three straight Super Bowl trophies and going back for a another.

Niners. Niners. Niners. Niners. Seahawks. Seahawks. Niners. Niners. Seahawks. Niners. Seahawks. Niners. Niners. Niners. Niners. Niners. Rams.

Pretty much that.

A virtual tie between the Niners and Seahags. Of course there is a team I absolutely hate both the team and their fans and that is the Steelers. Talk about rude and obnoxious.

I don't carry hate around with me...but I have a closet full of hate for the cowboys...I despise that team with every fiber of my being. However....having grown up in norcal and always being a part time supporter of the niners...long before we were in the same division...I have a nephew...he and his wife are niners fans...and soooooo ****ing obnoxious.....I am starting to project my distaste for their facebook antics onto the team...and Harbaugh...coulda pissed on him when he was a player...and he is even worse now...don't ya just wanna punk slap him every time ya see him?

Pats fans aren't much different. I caught a SD/NE game in SD and it was a mess. Both teams looked like they had no business in the NFL. But after NE squeaked it out, those fans were beyond annoying

All time W-L records vs. some of our ‘hated’ rivals. Some of these results go back to when pro-football was ‘invented’:
Dallas leads series 55-31-1. Dallas has scored 2006 points vs. Cards 1503. Cards have won the last three games vs. our old Division rival in ‘08, ‘10, and ‘11. Those three games were home games for the Cards. Home has been good for Cards: since 1999 we have won 7 of 8 here. Dallas has the edge when we play in their house since ‘99
San Francisco leads series 17-28
Detroit leads series 26-31-5
Seattle leads series 16-14
Giants, 42-80
Eagles, 57-55
Washington, 44-74-2
No one has listed the Giants as a ‘hated’ rival—I guess that is too old a ‘rivalry’ even for the old farts on the forum. Our butting heads with the Seahags is relatively new---but a lot of Card fans list them as their 'most hated'.

Here for the complete (and discouraging tally for our Cards):

They are number two on my list right behind the Steelers. If I didn't live among so many Steeler fans they would be #1.

That game was a heartbreaker for sure, that year was one of the better offensive years the Cards ever had, too bad it was wasted. The first game with the Redskins that year was another exciting game down to the wire, which Odonahue won the game in the final seconds (after missing an extra point and another FG if I remember correctly) and featured a 1 play drive TD to Roy Green. Can't believe that was 30(!) years ago.

The "zebras" handed the game to Washington. It was so blatantly obvious to anyone watching that they were not going to let the Cards win. To this day I am disgusted by what I saw and if I ever see Joe Theisman I'll tell him to his face that they got help. John Madden went crazy over the "calls."

Mark in SC :)

I think those of us who grew up in Arizona will always list Jerry's Kids as one of the most hated, if for no other reason than how obnoxious their bandwagon has always been in this state.

That being said, a lot of that bandwagon has turned into Niners fans now. Honestly, I can't decide whether I hate the Hags or the Niners more, between the fan and the coaches it' a real tossup. I think the Hag have the edge. Seattle fans are like lazy Chicago sports fans.

Guess the next question is: How do you respond to a fan of the team you 'Hate?' Imagine you are at a game with the Cards vs. 'Your Biggest Rival' team and you hear a fan of the opposing team say something deragatory about the Cards. Do you give it back to them or ignore the comment?

What do you do if a fan (or fans) of the opposition wants to get personal? If they want to extend it into a physical confrontation?

My own answers: If I hear a fan booing, etc. vs the Cards, no problem. They paid for their ticket and, even if it is a home game, can boo/cheer their favorite.

As I have gotten older, I refrain from the physical confrontation. I have complained to security when I see fan(s) of either team trying to turn the rivalry into a physical confrontation. Our world has gone way wrong---fans getting killed and beaten senseless because they are wearing the 'wrong' jersey.

I would hope Card fans set the example on how to be gracious to opposition fans, honor the game and the outcome, and maintain composure---even if your 'Most Hated Rival' comes out on top. It's still just a game and source of enjoyment---not something to kill or die for.

Good old days at Sun Devil:

If it were a Detroit Lions fan we just yell "your team is worse than ours"

Favorite line ever was the Cardinal fan who was asking the Cowboys fans with the Silver and Blue masks where they got the Jerry Jones facelift mask.

If 49er fans started with their 5 Super Bowls routine we'd just respond "yes my grandfather told me about those"

Giants fans we'd tell them they were at the wrong stadium because Jimmy Hoffa isn't buried here.

Then there was the Cards fan, one of the all time great fans, who would grab opposing fans around the neck as they walked to the stadium, smile and have their picture taken together and then post the pix on ASFN.

Opposing fans were surprised at how little abuse they took from Cards fans. But, hey, what could you do when your team was 5-11 for 25 years.

One more thing. I never got to sit near King of Cards, Kooter, or Gee but I would imagine things got really interesting in that area of SDS.

Cowpies - and SF is a much nicer city than Dallas.

Maybe so maybe not...I bet our economy is better here in Big D :p
Despite the hated star, Dallas & Texas is a pretty damn good place to live!!!
