Should have passed on Floyd and taken OLB Mercilus like I told them to. 6 sacks playing part time. He'd have had 10-15 sacks playing for Horton.

Yah cause that Wade Phillips guy is known to be a terrible defensive coordinator.

I'm still really excited about Floyd, and think he'll be great, but time will tell.

People love to continue to whine about the Floyd pick, but most of those people wanted either Riley Reiff or Melvin Ingram instead. Ingram struggled with injuries, had a total of 1.0 sack, and is now out for the entire upcoming season. Reiff couldn't crack the starting lineup last year. He's starting at LT this year, so we'll see how good he is.

People act like we were just STACKED at WR. If we didn't have Floyd right now WR would arguably be viewed as the thinnest position on the roster.

Wrong. I'd say the consensus here was David DeCastro not Reiff. DeCastro got hurt but there's no way to know if he'd have been injured if he were in Arizona instead and Pittsburgh counts him as a major part of the foundation of their offensive line for years to come.

Thinnest position on the roster?!?! With Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Roberts? How about if you wanted another top WR you get one who doesn't have the exact same skills at a lesser level than the guy you already have?

Again Mercilus would have been Merciless in Horton's defense.

Speaking of pass catching it's interesting to note that McFadden, RB, Reece, FB, and Myers, TE, combined for 173 receptions for Oakland last season. The more I see the more I like the Palmer acquisition to go with the hiring of Arians.

Now if only Palmer weren't so old and didn't have a tendency to throw picks at critical times and ......:stick:

Am I wrong? The consensus was Decastro? These polls don't seem like a consensus for Decastro.

And yes, I would say WR would have been one of our thinnest. I didn't say weakest, I said thinnest. You need more than 2 decent receivers on your roster.

I agree on Palmer.

And conversely there's no way you can know that most of the people who voted for Reiff also bashed the Floyd pick.

I still disagree with WR being thin with Fitz (80 catches 1411 yards and 8 TDs), Roberts (51/586/2) and Doucet (54 catches 689 yards and 5 TDs). That's a solid top 3. Especially when you consider who was throwing them the football.

Good bump. Glad to see MF with a BIG game. Rather studly game.

A lot of anti Notre Dame bias to spare and the fact this team had other needs than at WR made the Floyd pick to me not popular around here but I never doubted he was first round material
