What were the most memorable games you've ever saw live? Could be any teams you saw. Mine are:

1985: Vikings 28 Eagles 23-It was a cold, miserable day at the old Vet as both teams were still in the playoff hunt at the time. The Eagles took a 23-0 lead into the 4th quarter. In fact, there was about 8 minutes left and it was still 23-0. But the Vikings scored to cut it to 23-7 and on the Eagles next possession, Jaworski fumbled and it was returned for a TD. 2 long Anthony Carter TD's later, with 1:11 left in the game, the Vikings led 28-23. The Eagles drove at the end but Mike Quick couldn't hold a tipped pass in the endzone and the Eagles lost. This game basically got Marion Campbell fired which ushered in the Buddy Ryan era in Philly.

1987: Buccaneers 28 Cardinals 31-My first ever road trip to see a Cards game in St. Louis. The Cards leaving was a forgone conclusion in this week 8 game, not to mention that it was the 2nd week after the regular players came back to work. Fan apathy in St. Louis was an understatement, even though the Cards were in the playoff hunt. Anyhoo, the Cards couldn't do anything right in this game and the Steve DeBerg led Bucs(Testeverde has just signed) took a 28-3 lead into the 4th quarter. To say I was miffed is an understatement. Then the 4th quarter came and the Cards decided to play some football. They scored 28 unanswered points to take the lead late in the game. The Bucs drove within FG range but Donald Igwebuike's 53 yard attempt hit the crossbar preserving the win and one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history.

1998: Chargers 13 Cardinals 16-I'm assuming no explanation is needed here but, yes, I was there to see this gem and flipped out when Jacke made that FG. Watching the fans try to tear down the goalposts was comical.

1) 1984: Skins at St. Louis- Lomax to Green torched the Skins secondary all day. Lomax led a last second drive & O'donoghue nailed the FG at the buzzer (unlike the last game for the East) to win, 26-24. Awesome game & an incredible offense that season.

2) 1998 Playoff game in Dallas-The Cards jumped on the Cowpies early & nearly had a shutout until the last few mins. Frank Sanders awesome 1-handed catch of a Snake bomb set the tone & Adrian Murrell's 70-yd run early in the 2nd half drove a stake in the hearts of Texas. Greatest day of my life seeing my Redbirds beat my hometown team.

3) Super Bowl 43-The reality of being at the Big Game didn't hit me until I waited in line for an hour to enter Tampa Stadium. I never thought I would ever witness the Big Red playing for a Lombardi. When Fitz gave us the lead with 2 mins left, my buddy had to hold me up as I cried tears of joy as we took the lead.

4) Niners at Cards 2006-The beginning of a new era with the opening of Cardinals Stadium!!! Great tailgating, cold beer & a Cards win.

5) Cards at Hawks 2002- The Cards ruined the grand opening of the Hawks new stadium at Thomas Jones blistered the Hawks for 176 yds & martay Jenkins returned a KO for a TD. I was ask by Michael B too watch the game on the field when he found out I came to see my Cardinals all the way from Dallas. A great, great experience!!!

Hopefully I will add another moment this weekend in KC!!! :D

Go Big Red :newcards:

Cards v. Eagles NFC Championship game, hands down.

Second was probably opening day in Philly in 1999 though. Went to the Vet by myself because the game was threatened to be blacked out in the area. (Wasn't going to miss opening day of my Cardinals, damn it!) Watched a great comeback by the Cards. Got Corey Chavous's autograph. :)

1987 against the Cowboys on opening day. We won 24-13. Earl Ferrell gave my family tickets in the family section. Earl scored the game sealing TD. He then took us to dinner after the game with his East Tennessee State coaches. Great day.

That was a great game. I was living at home at the time and I watched it with my brother and my dad. They are big Eagles fans. They laughed and cheered and just loved that the Cards won. It is one of my favorite memories of hanging with the two of them ever. :)

most memorable game seen live and in person???

I think it was 1978.......Oakland Coliseum....... Dallas Cowboys came to town, they were still an honorable and respected team back then. Tony Dorsett out of the backfield was amazing.
But Matuszac was a demon in man skin,....nearly every offensive play saw someone from the Cowboys being helped off the field,...many on stretchers.....when the blood and dust settled, the Raiders won 48-3 in a battle that was more carnage than contest....it was my first ever NFL game, and after the game I got to meet John Matuszac in person, and some dude called the snake, and a tall fella named after a friendly ghost.
I had never seen NFL football before, these guys were huge.....on the drive home my dad talked to me about them, and about how big and quick I was,...and convinced me that I could be one of those guys.......and my head has not been right since, it was love at first sight.

1) My first NFL game. Los Angeles Rams sometime in the 60's. We sat in the upper reaches of the L.A. Coliseum, which meant the players were just little dots running around on the field. I was a little kid. Had no idea of what was going on and remember counting all the lights. I ate 3 bags of peanuts, a hot dog and (I'm told) and ice cream sandwhich. For a long time sporting events were all about the food.

2) Rams vs. Houston Oilers in Anaheim Stadium. Eric Dickerson broke O.J. Simpson's record for most yards rushing. O.J. was up in the boxes. Everyone thought, "What a great guy O.J. is to be here for this." 1984.

3) Saved the best for last. Cards/Falcons playoff game. Fabulous. Just fabulous.

Memorable Eagles/Cards games I saw in person:

1978: Cards 16 Eagles 13-This is the first NFL game I ever went to. Gone were Don Coryell, Terry Metcalf, and Conrad Dobler and in was Bud Wilkinson who Bidwill thought could bring his Oklahoma magic to St. Louis and Steve Pisarkiewicz who was the heir apparent to Hart. The Cards opened the season by losing the first 8 games(this was the first season of the 16 game season). Bakken kicked a 4th quarter FG to take the lead and Roger Wehrli intercepted Jaworski to seal the win.

1982: Cards 23 Eagles 20-Strike year. And the first time I saw Lomax play but this was Stump Mitchell's day as he ran all over the Eagles.

1987: Cards 31 Eagles 19-Cards are a playoff contender and set to leave St. Louis. There is a large contingent of fans from Baltimore showing support for the Cards in hopes of luring them to Baltimore(had they done that, I would have bought season tix). Cards led 31-3 at half time and hung on for the win. This was the last time I would see Lomax play.

1990: Cards 23 Eagles 21-Joe Bugel's first win. Johnny Johnson and Timm Rosenbach have good rushing days and Al Delgreco kicks a FG at the buzzer for the win. This was the last Eagles/Cards game I ever saw.

1. NFC championship game

2. The 98 game against the Chargers to clinch the playoffs.

3. The Packers playoff game.

4. The final game in 2003 when we knocked the Vikings out of the playoffs. No game, before or after, was so heavily dominated by the opponents fans in the crowd. I was literally surrounded by Vikings fans in every direction. The nearest Cards fan was three rows in front of me. I counted about 15 in my entire section, which was full. We took a lot of crap from them the entire game. When McCown-Poole pulled off that miracle TD it was truly a sweet moment. Almost got into a fight when I told a a very large couple "Thanks for coming Mr and Mrs. Grimace. What McDonalds are you off to to drown your sorrows?"

I was there! I ran out of the Vet that day with my soon to be wife. That comeback was awesome.

ajcardfan, i to was at that game against the vikings and you were absolutely right about viking fans dominating us. i was completely surrounded by viking fans and it seemed like i was at a viking home game. i remember some viking fans sitting directly behind me kept patting my shoulders telling me aah it's ok you at least gave us a close game. well on the final drive i turned around a told them and all the other viking fans that these were the cardinals the comeback kids. they all started laughing at me and told me to have another beer. i said you just watch we will drive down the field and score a TD. well by that time they were laughing pretty hard and i felt kinda dumb for saying it. then it happened, oh my god a TD we won! i stood up turned around and put arms out wide and said YA! YA! YA! what do ya now. they looked like they just saw there house burning down and it was eerily quite. mouth wide open and a blank stare and they said absolutely nothing. priceless :) very fun game to be at.

I found this youtube clip of the last drive. It's amazing how unprobable it all was. First, an onside kick that a Vikings player muffs and it fall into Anderson's lap. Then a pass interference and two completions and a run get it to the 9 yd line. McCown gets sacked twice loses almost 20 yards and he fumbles on the second sack but we recover it. They scramble to get a play off and McCown-Poole make a play that they couldn't repeat if they tried it another 100 times.

I had forgotten Corey Chavous was with the Vikings then. :D

In a van...down by the river.
(Attended)Cardinals: '98 clinching game vs Chargers(a popular choice so far). What an atmosphere.

(Unattended) Rams: Super Bowl 34. Simply 3 hrs of gut wrenching intensity followed by a euphoric state of inner peace, satifaction, celebration and pure joy.
Well duh!!

Last years Houston - Cards game where the Cards had a goalline stand to win the game. Went to that game and was on the edge of my seat in the second half.

That 98 game against the Chargers was a crapfest...the outcome was great but that was hardly a good football game. The Chargers had a QB who later couldn't even start in the XFL and who made Lassiter undeserved millions. After the game was much more memorable than the game itself.
