Who is it and why?

Russell Davis juuuuuust beat out Adrian Wilson for my vote.

Russell Davis. This guy is a phantom. I couldn't even tell you if he played a down last year. Yet he gets press, and a fairly good rating in Madden. I don't know why people in the press (usually someone who stinks and have no knowledge of the Cardinals team) always like to mention him as a promising player on our DL.

He doesn't get sacks, and rarely gets over 50 tackles. I will give him credit for staying health.

But what does he do? Nuttin that is what.

BTW - This is not about Clement cause he is not overrated. Everybody thinks he blows and he does.

And nothing would make me happier than for all 3 players mentioned to prove me worng.

Leonard Davis -- at least last season. He needs to leave his roller skates at home this year.

The answer is Plummer. The next Montana? Big contract put us in a bad spot.

From a pure athletic standpoint, I gotta go with Adrian Wilson. The guy has so much natural ability but is just lost out there. Everytime I see him playing I think back to that memorable line from "Bull Durham"...Million Dollar arm and a 5 cent head.

I hope Adrian can get his game together mentally to catch up with his pure ability. If he does...look out.

From a financial standpoint...gotta be BIG.

Most overrated Cardinal player?

Wow what a list to choose from:

I personally overrated Jeff Blake last year until he played in the first game for the Cardinals.

KVB is a "great motor player"

But my vote is...without a single doubt...

Marcel Shipp.

Oh sorry explanation required...

Rarely healthy, poor in blitz protection, yards per carry are VASTLY overrated by a handful of long runs, drops a lot of easy passes, can't find the endzone, fumbles too much, and lacks top tier back moves.

He is a great backup...but I don't think he would start for a lot of teams not as woeful as last year's Cardinals.

Frank Sanders. This guys production dropped rapidly his last few years in Arizona and all people would talk about was what a great possession receiver he was. He was literally stinking up the joint dropping balls. I will never forget the game he tried to catch the ball with his facemask. The Cardinal Kool-Aiders loved him though.

Josh McCown has had an entire 3 NFL starts and has had way to much praise thrown his way as well.

But my choice is Frank Sanders.

If anything, he was NEVER rated. :D

I'd go with Gruttadauria, and Kwamie Lassiter. Gruttaudauria was always counted on, never on the field. Kwamie always seemed to do well in contract years but never any other time, and also seemed to really give up his last season here.

Ok Chris it is no secret that I like Shipp and think he is NFL starting material. but some of the things you mention above appear to be made up or you just dont watch him play.

Rarely Healthy??? He was dinged last year but did he miss any games??? How can you say that??

Poor in blitz pick-up??? Granted two years ago he was VERY POOR that I admit. But last year he had improved vastly and made many nice blitz pick-ups. he was hardly a liability.

YPC vastly overrated by long runs???? Thats the dumbest excuse I have ever heard. I shouldnt even have to explain why.

Drops a lot of easy passes????? This is the the one that surprises me the most. Do you literally watch him play. Shipp is an excellent reciever and I would like to see you point out some specifics on this???? Really the guys hands are soft as can be. In fact his ability to catch passes is his strongest suit. Harry seems to agree as well.

Cant find the Endzone??? Thats a meaningless statistic taken over one season. Granted he didnt score last year but actually that isnt a surprise considering how bad this team was as a whole. Plus you take last seasons stats into account as saying he cant find the endzone, then how do you explain the year before when he found the endzone 9 times in only 8 starts????

Fumbles to much. I actually agree! But this something that can be corrected.

Lacks top tier back moves???? Thats ludicrouse, his spin move is something to behold and is commented on just how affective it is by several commentators. Besides the last I checked he is a power back. How many elite power backs do you know that actually "have moves"?

After that long winded post I would have to say that the most overrated player by far was Jake Plummer!

I did miss that sorry!

Let me see:

#1 Dinged up constantly=rarely healthy :) I guess his style of running just lends to him getting dinged up a lot.

#2 Well when I saw him he wasn't very good. Of course McCown just sitting their begging to be killed didn't help.

#3 We disagree here. If you take out his 5 longest runs from two seasons ago, his YPC went down to like sub 3.7. He just doesn't get enough yards on the average carry for my taste.

#4 Fair enough. I was reaching here ;)

#5 Glad we agree. Really it should be listed #1

#6. He doesn't cut back well at all, which even big power backs are good at. Unfortunately how much of that is his fault? I do have to admit our o-line stinks. Maybe that should be voted for most overrated.

In any event, it is just my opinion. Since Shipp is probably our starter I wish him well.

To be considered " Over rated " wouldn't a player have to be deemed a " good player " ?

Not too many Card players have been categorized as good players. I see over
paid and busts as better characterizations.

Ray Thompson gets my vote.

Gets all the love from the press, coaches and fans yet when he misses four games nobody even notices he's gone.

RE: Shipp
I can understand why some mught consider him overrated. This is an important year for him, IMO. If he preforms well, then I think it's safe to say he's NFL starting material. If he misses significant time and can't find the end-zone, then he may be one of the better backups in the league.

But, I think the YPC thing is pretty rediculous. Why should you take out his long runs? Isn't that what you want from a starting RB? In fact, Shipp isn't supposed to even get long runs because he's too slow, right? So, as long as we're making up his statistics, I'm going to count those long runs twice. Man, this guy has a GREAT YPC! ;)

RE: Russell Davis
Is anyone really overrating him? He's a rotation guy on a sub-par defensive line. I'm not sure there's a large contingent of fans that think he's much more than that.

My vote: KVB--"When Vandenbosch is healthy..." he'll still just be a guy that gets less than 5 sacks and gets manhandled by offensive linemen. Yeah, he's got a great "motor". So what? So does my Jetta. And, yes, he seems like a real "character" guy. MmmHmm. So's my great uncle--and my uncle has healthier knees.
