Any Suns player not named Booker, Jackson and #1 needs to be involved in trade discussions. I think Bender and Chriss carry mid-first round value as does Warren. It probably depends upon the trade partner.
Really? You think Chriss and Bender have that much value?

I think Bender has more value ×10 . Chriss is horrible

Maybe to the Suns but I doubt there's much difference in the eyes of the league. If anything, Chriss would probably be the more moveable.

I think every team in the league would like to have one or the other but only on a major discount. They are young, they have potential, but they have MAJOR flaws. Nothing about their play to date is likely to bring us a suitor that's willing to give actual value for either.

I agree with this. Only because Chriss body language on the court is just awful. Woof.

I talked about this before we drafted him. I really don't think you could watch a single one of his college games and not see evidence of his head/heart issues. So, I figure the NBA and the Suns see something in him that offsets this weakness. I don't see it but I sure hope the Suns braintrust was right.

I still think the best opportunity to move up is with Memphis, but it would mean eating Parsons salary (50m over the next 2 years). Bender/Chriss + 16 plus next years milwaukee for Parsons + 5? They'd probably ask for TJ as well.

I didn’t watch a single game of his college career. So I missed the warning signals about his body language.:)

I would do:

16
31
Milwaukee
Next year Suns (top 3 protected)
TJ

For

5
Parsons’ salary

That’s 3 firsts (one that could still be pretty good), the first pick of the 2nd round and BIG salary dump for Griz. Still not sure they’d do it.

And for us we get a shot at another major talent. And though we take on Parsons albatross of a contract, we have room for it and he’s not a completely worthless player. In some respects he might even be a better fit than Warren. And his contract will be ending as we need to be gearing up for our young talents’ second contracts.

Honestly I might even throw in another highly protected first rounder (like lottery protected) to get it done.

This seems like a more reasonable offer, for sure. I agree that it's no sure thing the Grizzlies would do it even with all of those assets.

Also, the Grizzlies pick at 4, not 5.

Wait a minute, I'm confused. How come we're okay paying $49M over the next two years to Chandler Parson for the privilege of drafting a point guard, but not okay paying $52M over the next two years to Jrue Holiday?

I don't get it either. Parsons and Knight could share the bench together.

I'd pass on #5 at the combined cost of assets and salary.

For the record, I was for Jrue Holiday too. I highly doubt he is available now though.

I think you are leading us back to Kemba Walker. :wink2:

I want to see the Suns have a professional point guard so badly I find myself rationalizing Brandon Knight as a plus starter, not unlike someone who considers getting back with a troubled ex and conveniently ignores how much she hurt me the first time around.

I'm with you although I have yet to rationalize Brandon Knight being a starter other than to temporarily hold the position for a youngster the Suns draft.

We already had a professional point guard so bad, let's go for so good instead.

Dude, if your ex constantly takes deep twos early in the shot clock, just stay away. It's not worth it.

Imo parsons allows us to acquire a long term answer for PG who i think has greater upside whereas jrue has shorter window and is a less than ideal lead guard. And parsons 2 years may be a useful rotation player.

Who are we drafting in this scenario with the #4?

I've lost track of that, too... or maybe there was no specific target from the outset. At #4 Doncic becomes a possibility but I suspect if he is available the Griz might well change their minds about making a deal. One thing I read was that were interested in trading down to where they'd grab Mikal Bridges so in #7-9 range. I'd guess if they're looking for a SF they'd prefer Doncic to Bridges.

Do nothing. Draft your players. Only way I am giving up anything is if we can get Doncic. Everything else is Lens and Benders

Personally, I'm on the "keep financial flexibility with a young roster" side of the argument.

But, "my ex took long 2s early in the shot clock" might be one of the better euphemisms I've heard in a ages. If I was a female it would be absolutely incredible.
