But what does that say about dinwiddies prospects if a talent starved team is willing to throw him into such a package?

It makes it hard to space the court when your point guard can't shoot. I'm confused by all the Dinwiddie love here. He's a nice backup, that's all IMO. Same with VanVleet.

Dinwiddie is solid, and a good rotation guard, but the Nets arent re-signing him next summer. Their chips are in on Russell anyway. Not the worst move in the world to use him to move up in the draft. Personally, I think Sen Marks has done a great job building the Nets with nearly zero draft assets.

Could be a win-win move for both teams, if the Suns are trying to put a better product on the floor and have interest in paying Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie's shooting was down but he was used as the #1 option for an awful Nets team for a while. I don't think he should be judged that harshly for his stats last year. It's his assist to turnover ratio that is good. He's a good passer, and a better outside shooter than Payton. If they would take Knights contract in return then it's a no brainer, IMO. I don't think they'd touch that though.

I think if you have Dinwiddie or Brogdon as your starting point guard, you'll constantly be in search of an upgrade at that position. Ten years ago, they'd both be nice middle of the road starters but in today's game they're too much of a liability to use long term as a starter (IMO).

I think Brooklyn is willing to trade Dinwiddie to move up, or to absorb a bad contract to move up. I have a hard time believing they'd do both just to get up to 16.

We would include players going the other way, I'm sure. I think Memphis is actually a good fit for Warren. If you include his contract I bet it works.

Grizzlies give:
#4
Parsons

Suns give:
#16
#31
Warren
Chriss
Bucks Pick
Heat Pick

Maybe take away one of those assets, just because adding Parsons makes it very difficult to add anyone else the next two years. The Suns would potentially be competing with the Clippers, whose assets line up pretty well with the Grizzlies needs:

I'd be tickled pink to get the 4th pick... but IMO that is a serious overpay.

I think #16, #31, Bucks pick, Chriss would probably be almost enough to get it done. If it's not then I'd take the #31 back and toss in our pick next year, top 5 protected.

I generally try to err on the side of overpay in hypothetical trades, if only to balance out the insanely one-sided proposals that litter the internet.

That said, if I'm Memphis, I'm not trading out of the top 8 of this draft even with an overpay.

I agree, but if Memphis is keen on using the pick to move Parsons disgusting contract, then they're not going to get near what they would in a typical trade down.

However, if I'm running Memphis I'd probably be looking to move up, if anything. I doubt they're going broke and it's not like they're going to lure in a marque free agent with the money saved from Parsons' deal... dumping a pick in this draft to save money just doesn't make much sense to me.

It doesn't make sense to me either, which probably means they won't end up doing it. But doesn't hurt to dream!

I don't know if Memphis will do it either but they really struggle to bring in the crowds there.

We're looking at the worst 10 year stretch of basketball in the history of the Suns yet we've still drawn better than the Grizzlies, a team that's been pretty competitive the past decade. On average, we're 20th in home attendance and Memphis comes in at 24 over the past 10 seasons.

They just need to move to Seattle.
