I have a Samsung S6 using Chrome. Out of the blue I started to get these messages... Gotta be a scam, right??

I have Lookout and clean master installed for viruses. Neither of them picked up anything

Hmmm, I have popups disabled on browser and I don't visit any weird sites. Sometimes there are ads in the margins of regular sites that I mistakenly open but those are usually for auto makers or some other site I've visited looking to buy something. Clear my browser history??

Bah, I should have started a separate thread because I have another problem with my
stock message app that I can't figure out either. I've tried replacing it with Chomp, Go, Textra, etc but they have way too many ads.

I'm not familiar with phone popup blockers but thats what those websites are, they pop up in front of the website you are viewing and try to get you to click their links and etc.

Why are there updates to so many apps all the time? Not a day goes by without 2 or 3 of them. I get that there are security issues that crop up constantly Lookout/Power Clean, but some of this stuff has constant updates. Microsoft Word, Vspeed test, YouTube, Netflix, TripIt, SwiftKey, Uber, Dropbox are examples

I tried to disable text alerts while talking on the phone. I've gone back and changed every setting I can think of but I can't get rid of this. I don't get alerts now but this is really annoying. I have to hit ok every time or it won't disconnect the phone. Galaxy S6... Any help would be appreciated.

Look at your apps and see what's running and trying to use your data while talking on the phone. I think it only pops up when something is trying to access the internet while you're on the phone.

So, some guy called me and said, hey I just got a spam call for cruise line from this number. Just wanted to let you know that your phone number has been hacked. Hmmm. I'm sure this is possible because I get spam calls from local #s. Do these guys ever quit preying on geezers like me??

If my number has been hacked is there anything I should do?

Thanks, I'll do just that. I am also curious as to how calls not made by me show up an incoming call on someone else's phone. How is it pirated? Any ideas? If the hackers have a way to use a specific number to make spam calls, what problem would they have with stealing numbers from the average Joe, not just senior citizens?

I don't get many incoming spam calls, a couple a month, but my wife gets 4or5 a day.

They're not really hacking you. They're spoofing the caller ID, which is legal in certain situations. They usually set it up so that it shows up as a local number to whoever they're calling, and it would hopefully entice the person to answer the phone. It just so happens that your phone number was used for that particular call or day. Other than that, I don't think they know anything about the owner of the number they're using.

There's not much that can be done about this, unless you want to have fun wasting their time like "Lenny" does. He likes to talk to all kinds of telemarketers.

@Skratchy_Seal ok, I guess spoofing #s is what's happening. I'm not tech savvy enough to get how it's done and I don't get how that could be legal.

The same thing happens to me as well. When I have a call from the same first 6 digits, I don't answer.
