Ahhh.. this might be the one genre that I feel the most guilty about....

I love the late 60s-early 70s Bubble Gum music..... Bands like the Ohio Express and their song that goes.. "Yummy, yummy, yummy...I got love in my tummy" in also 1910 Fruitgum Company, the Archies, Banana Splits...etc.... Just dont ask me why though! :D

4) Patsy Cline

Ahhh, Patsy Cline! One of my favorite singers to sing when we do karaoke!

Ok, so for my guilty pleasure music (assuming I understand correctly, and it's music that is totally different than what is "normal" for me), the only one I can think of is Weird Al.

Some times..one of my friend's mothers would allow him to borrow her car (so we could actually travel in style once every so often) and she had a Patsy Cline compilation in her cd changer, so we would actually listen to it on full blast with the windows open while cruising around.... Her songs her ideal for night or just when you're enduring some major heartbreak and need something to really sob to... haha...Seriously though.. her music was very riveting to me.....

I wouldnt do karaoke to her music though since her voice isnt w/in my range! :D Otherwise... I would have had to been kneed to the groin extremely hard with some girl's high-heels (honestly dont want to try to stimulate that whatsoever).....

:biglaugh: Too funny!!!!
Anywho, my favorite karaoke to sing with is Patsy, LeAnn Rimes, Alison Krauss... I actually had an old man come up to me after singing I Fall to Pieces almost in tears. He told me that he thought Charley (karaoke king at Charley's Place) had actually put on background music, until he saw that I was actually holding the mic. He thought my singing was actually Patsy Cline. I think that was THE BEST karoake compliment I have ever received!!!

Oh... I think I once mentioned this story on here.... A cpl of friends and I were at a famous blues bar back in the Detroit suburbs (Memphis Smokes in Royal Oak) and this one contemporary blues band who had a female singer were performing.... Well... this army vet was totally plastered and practically every 5 mins he would approach the stage and request that the band performed "Crazy" which wasnt really in their repertoire.... But.. he still insisted and would walk around showing everyone his dog-tag.... Anyways... finally w/in an hr later the staff decided to escort him out of the bar and even offered to buy back his last beer.... Sure enough..the band went into a brief rendition of "Crazy" as he was being dragged-out... It was sad..yet hysterical at the same time.....

Time to revive this thread w/a recent guilty pleasure of mine... Perhaps they're not all too bad, but I really have gotten into Maroon 5 over the past year.......

I know some of their songs might sound sappy, but "This Love" and "Sunday Morning" are quite catchy and addicting....

I guess I would also include Ben Fold Five on the list as well for the same exact reason as I enjoy Maroon 5....

I used to not like Maroon 5... but they have steadily grown on me. To the point I purchased some of their songs off of itunes! Crazy, I know.

Another guilty pleasure are the Dixie Chicks. By no means am I country music fan, but I get little excited when it's pop/country.

I sing a mean drunken rendition of "Goodbye Earl"

I love that song "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band. I used to sing it as a kid. I'm sure it embarrassed my parents a lot, lol!

Freestyle stuff, like Stevie B. and Expose' (goes back to my high school clubbing days)

Mariah Carey's early stuff, her stuff now, not the stuff inbetween

David Gray

That's enough pathetic stuff for now.

.

I remember that song too, as a kid it hadn't really occurred to me what the song was about. Same with Imaginary Lover, just didn't dawn on me at the time.
