monti swung and missed on fries - we know he wants to shore up some top shelf protection - that typically happens in free agency and the first round - tackles go first yada yada im sure you're familiar

if nobody slides to monti's liking i can see him trading back - getting his "guard of the future" and acquiring let's say another 3rd round pick - monti will have to sweeten the pot a bit but he ends up with a later first round pick but gains a third rounder

idk who the guard will be lol

second round - idk that either - sounds like a perfect bpa time to me considering no one can pin point exactly which position we are in most of need

third round - late day two - this is where the magic might happen - mikey ponied up for defense - if it is true - that the cardinals are interested in drafting scattebo - mikey might be a part of that - he'd make more money off them jerseys then the suites that have invaded the cheerleaders natural habitat but i digress

monti can get his guard - stick to his board thru out the draft while still having a shot at the asu phenom making mikey happy

Monti tried to sign Fries because he was a young player and one of the top FA, who would be a significant upgrade at a starting position.

That is not the same as saying G is top priority.

Adams developing on one side - he showed he was ready in run blocking, but didn't in pass blocking.
Evan Brown as 6th OL.
WH brought back when cleared
E.g. 3rd round OT that can start at guard.

I think that is solid to good by NFL standards if WH returns to his former self and would make G a focus area, but not top priority.

Fries could have made that a non priority all together.

I do not get this sentence.

This draft have around 7 players at the top and is very deep at 2nd tier with the majority being defensive players.

That actually helps your argument of trading down, because from 8-10 to late 1st there is on paper not much difference in talent level.

FYI. There is like 8 Gs and college OTs, that might fit better at G ranked in the 60-80 range in the draft.

I do don’t agree with that logic.

Monti’s willingness to spend 70M came from the opportunity to sign a young top 5 guard in the league IMO.

Monti’s priorities is dictated by weakest position group.

final 4/20 mock (technically 4/21)

im sticking with o-line in the first with the probability of trading back - monti has secured a couple of the key positions that might fall to 16 - someone might want to trade up but could depend on cincinnati who picks directly after us

cincinnati could go defense or they could go o-line - who knows - that could work out well for us - seattle picks after cincinnati and they're probably going o-line

seattle might trade back if we don't

after the first round it's all bpa imo - i think we'll try and get skattebo but monti won't move mountains to do so

been 5 weeks since i came up with my guard theory and im sticking with it - unless there's a tackle or some other surprise get at #16 but monti wants a freakin guard - we know this - i wouldn't mind going o-line with the first 2 picks
