OG: Cosey Coleman/ Tampa Bay
DT: Corey Simon/ Philadelphia
CB: Ken Lucas/ Seattle
RB: Lamont Jordan/ NY Jets
QB: Jon Kitna/ Cincinnati

This would allow us to target Ahmad Brooks from Virginia as a replacement for Darling/ Thompson at WLB with our #1 pick; target CJ Brooks from Maryland at OG to replace Wells/ Bridges with the 2nd round pick; target Jimmy Williams from Virginia Tech as a nickel CB immediately and a projected FS to replace Ohalete in 2006 with the #3 pick.

Voila.....a rebuilt O-Line that looks like:

Davis; Coleman; Stephanovich; CJ Brooks; LT Shelton

...........a killer D-Line that looks like:

Zellner (KVB); Corey Simon (Davis); D. Dockett (Bryant); B. Berry (Pace)

This would get teams attention

Some interesting choices. I do like Kitna and feel he would be a good pick, I believe he is not a free agent but might be available for cap reasons. I don't see Jordan being let go. I think trading for Michael Bennett is a real possibility. Bennet and a healthy Shipp would make a good backfield combination. Denny will definitely improve the offensive line.
Not sure if he would go for a linebacker with the first pick. But he has in the past when he picked Dwayne Rudd. I also think its possible that the 2nd or 3rd round pick could be a TE depending on their ranking. He most likely will also sign a free agent TE. Freddie Jones will be history.

Kitna would be a good choice. However, he is signed through 05 and in the past has shown an interest in staying with the Bengals. Its possible that he could be cut or traded, but I haven't seen anything to support that.

I don't think Minnesota would take anything less than a #3 for Bennett and that's too much to give up this year. Denny needs all his day 1 picks. Ahmad Brooks will be a rainmaker at WLB.......could also be a MLB in a pinch so he's versatile.

A TE is a distinct possibility on day one.

Unless they tag him, Jordan is gone.

I like alot of what you have done spanky with this...I would say that King will be somewhere along that line maybe in place of KVB(he will get some good offers elsewhere). If we get Lamont Jordan I will really be impressed, I like him better than Bennett but would take either one. We will have some CB holes to fill if Hill and Starks aren't back. Do you see us bringing either back? We can save cap money by dumping Bryant and I think there will be a cheaper alternative to Shelton on the line that will do as well at RT. LJ may make it because it cost us to much on the cap to cut him. On a side note It really sucks to be talking about this with 5 games to go and a chance to win. But with a rookie QB starting I don't think anyone thinks we really have much of a chance to make the playoffs. What might have been.....

Regarding Hill and Starks. If Starks is prepared to restructure, he's valuable as a nickle back. If he is unprepared to restructure he'll be gone and with his injury situation, will not likely find a lot of takers. Hill will be gone if we pick up Lucas in FA and draft a CB on day #1.

I really liked Lucas coming out of Miss where he played oppisite Smoot. I thought he was the better player when he was there. He would be a good pick up as you say, if Starks doesn't resign. I like Hill. He is a gamer and could be back cheap. Would you like to see Smoot here? He brings an attitude but I am not sure that we will be looking for anyone that is not a team player.

Would love Smoot.......but as others have pointed out, he'll resign with Washington in all likelyhood. It'll be tough for the Seahawks to resign Lucas and also try and keep Alexander, Jones and Hasselbeck.

I would prefer Shaun Rogers over Corey Simon, but Detroit will not let this guy get away from them.

Not really, I'm a draftnik and like discussing the draft throughout the college
season regardless of how our pro team may be doing. I also enjoy discussing free agents that may be available to help the team.
Bottom line is I like talking about football year round.

I guess sucks was the wrong wording....different should have been the word...it si different that we are talking about this this early when we are still in the race...I agree the draft has always been the best part of being a Cards fan....but I want DG to change that mentality....to who can we get to help us get from the playoffs to the Super Bowl...not who we can get to make it to being competitive. .... small steps I guess.

I absolutly love Ahmad Brooks, glad to see someone else on here who wants him too.

However... I might be a toss up between Brooks and a guy like Justin Miller CB Clemson/Marlin Jackson CB UM/and Corey Webster CB LSU.

We really need a shutdown corner in our divison. Those guys have the skills lock up on an island against some of the WRs in our division.

Also you have to figure in the Green factor - an offensive player. I really want Brooks or one of those CBs though....

Also don't sleep on Darryl Blackstock LB from Virginia. He is an absolute freak of nature... Earlier in the season they put him back on kickoff return :shocker:

At the rate we are going now we may be drafting in the Derrick Johnson range, something I didn't think was possible three weeks ago. The guy is a beast. That being said, I really don't think we go defense the first day, unless Green signs a RB, TE, G, and QB in FA. The way the defense has played, and the offense has sputtered, and considering Green's ego concerning his offensive mind, I just can't believe he will allow this kind of offensive production last year.

It's a good plan but anyplan that doesn't have us getting DeAngelo Williams, i don't like.

Great looking list there but I do believe DT Chris Hovan will be here instead of Simon, which is ok by me as well.

OU's White just won the Unitis award. I guess you guys think he's not good enough for the NFL and will be selling insurance somewhere next year.

He'll be in the league. I'm convinced he'll do better than Josh Huepel and Nate Hybl.

Reminds me of a player at my Alma Mater (New Mexico State) in the early 80's. The guy played DE and KR. He went on to become a pro bowler with the Seattle Seahawks. The name was Fredd Young.

To all you BIG SCHOOL alum, cut me some slack, NMSU hasn't had that many alum make it big in the nfl, so I'm kinda proud of the guy.
