Patrick Willis -- linebacker from Ole Miss.

Played inside at Ole Miss, and for some reason, MLBs tend to get downgraded a bit during the draft. A month ago he was considered a last third of the first round kinda prospect --

but then he was easily the best LB at the Senior bowl, with a complete display of football instincts, athletic ability and big hits.

and -- he just ran a 4.49 at the combine -- fastest of all the "known" linebackers.

The guy is a football player ---and is my candidate to be this year's Ernie Sims like player -- rockets up the boards in the final 45 days or so leading up to the draft. I think he is just as explosive as Sims, but with better size and no concussions.

#5 is a little high for Willis, but I think this guy will be really good.

I agree, but the guy from Penn State ran the best 40 of the known guys. People tend to forget that we really had our eye on Sims last year. had Leinart not fallen to us and he was available we would have taken either him or N'gata imo.

Seeing that Ernie Sims went at #9, it wouldn't have mattered if Leinart dropped or not.

Thank God he did though. :D

As happy as I was that we got Matt, I still think Ernie Sims is a beast. :(

Another riser is Adam Carriker. He's 6'6" 292lbs., did 33 reps on bench, had a 33 1/2" vertical, 4.9 forty, and a 4.14 shuttle (average LB time was 4.25)?

Thats pretty quick for a big man!

Suggs got crucified for a similar 40 time when he was in the draft. People actually said he wouldn't be fast enough to get to the QB in the NFL.

I like Carriker. But, he's probably going to a 3-4 defense. If we draft him, we could very well be thinking of running more 3 man lines.

Not necessarily as Carriker can play DT in the 4-3. He's been on my mind as of late and think he could very well be in the picture at this point.

Pos ran a 4.69 -- a good time but not better than Willis' 4.49

I saw the dude play in the SEC. He is for real! Always around the football. Great hitter.

Welcome natedawg. Another Arkansas poster.

I'll have some fried possum and a jar of moonshine, please.
