Well, I sent a letter to the league office via this: http://www.nba.com/webAction?actionId=surveyInitialize&target=/email_us/email_form_041027.jsp&surveyId=1152

I highly doubt the commish, aka "crooked-as-they-come" will ever see it personally, but SOMEONE will.

I encourage you guys to write as much as you can using the link, so that these referees get curbed somehow.

Letter follows:

Dear David Stern,

**** YOU and your officiating crew.

I have followed the NBA loyally for over two decades now, but I am DONE. You and your refs are giving the conspiracy-theorists more and more ammo each and every game. The fact that all close calls have ALWAYS and HISTORICALLY gone for the Lakers is undeniable, and appearing to be less and less of a coincidence each and every game I see them play in the playoffs.

Let's look at today's Suns game:
• Your league MVP gets fouled in a situation where it obviously calls for an intentional one by the opposition, and yet no call.
• Nash and his teammate Diaw, are BOTH yelling for a time-out during this fouling barrage. Time out YELLS are ignored.
• INSTEAD, a jump-ball is called between Nash and the player who was hacking on Nash's arm.
• YET, that self-same player who was given the jump-ball despite not earning it, had his foot OUT-OF-BOUNDS at one point, as he was grabbing the ball.

The L.A. area might be a major market to you, but I guarantee you will lose a large number of NBA followers in the Phoenix Metro area, 5th largest metropolitan area in the US, if this **** keeps up.

I guarantee you, or your league will NOT even acknowledge a mistake happened, much less investigate, apologize, or give recompense.

So again, with all sincerity, **** you.

You might want to leave off the "F you" part if you want anyone to read past the first line.

I sent two of them.

That one's the more heated one. I was kinda hoping to shock someone into paying attention with my intro.

The other one's more diplomatic, but I didn't quote it.

yup, this should get the nba to make better calls  you can write as many letters as you want, but your threats of the nba losing the phoenix market is pretty dumb. i'm sure stern and the nba officials are heartbroken and stricken from grief about possibly losing veiwership in phoenix  suns lost a tough game that they should have won. the lakers took advantage of the situation and made some big plays when they needed it. end of story.

You guys think they care? Don't waste your time.

I was re-directing energy from wanting to break my TV.

Plus, it can't hurt. Even a mosquito can get an elephants attention, especially when he has a lot of friends.

I'm going to put my money where my mouth is and drop League Pass next year. At least, that's the plan. I'll give myself another month or two to think about it.

It only took me 5mins. If you can watch NBA for 2hours and spend hours on this board, why can't you do little thing for the team by voicing your concern?

I wonder how many Laker fans are going to register at our forum tonight?

why dont you at least wait untill we have a healthy amare and co. before you go doing that. the refs wont be in a position to decide our games next year with the slaughtering we will conduct on these teams.

Letters and emails are nice, but what we really need is JC standing up and saying something about the officiating...Who else does the commish respect more?...Maybe we should be sending the Suns emails, asking for JC to voice his opinion? Afterall, JC represents the USA, while Stern only represents the NBA...

Bottom line: Nash shouldn't have had his pocket picked by Smush. Game Over.

Nope...Bottom line is that the refs wouldn't give a call to the Suns at any crucial point, yet the Suns still lead and deserved to win...that's the bottom line!

You can whine about the officiating all you want. The fact is that it won't change a darn thing. Were there some BS calls? Sure. Whining about it just makes us sound like poor losers to the rest of the league.

The more aggressive team always gets favorable calls. The Lakers have thoroughly outplayed and outhustled us physically and mentally the whole series. They have forced us to play their game. As painful as this is for me to say. They deserve to win.

:D But how do you explain the timeout nash never called for? What about that call? It was totally a bad no call. He had both his hands on the ball. The mvp was clearly gonna call a timeout after the defenders got off him.

I'm failing to see your point. What does that have to do with my post?

Nash never called timeout. He even said in the post-game interview.

Maybe, just maybe if Nash doesn't run into a trap and pick-up his dribble, the Suns win that game.

Seriously, I'm sick and tired of all this 'NBA is fixed' crap. Calls went the Suns' way as well, yet you fail to bring it up. Nash pushed off on Sasha on the inbounds. Kobe was fouled on 'tear drop' buzzer beater. Odom was hacked on a lay-up down the stretch that wasn't called. Ad nauseum.

You guys were outplayed for most of this series. Game 4 the Suns showed up and made great adjustments. Should of won that game. You just got beat by one of the greatest players to ever play this game.

And I sent this one the the League Office and the Players Association.

To Whom It May Concern,

As an avid NBA fan, I have a question of the officiating going on in the playoffs. My main questions are in the Lakers vs. Suns series. The officiating has been atrocious. Time and time again, the officials have failed to blow a whistle for hard fouls, moving picks and hand checks against the Lakers, yet the Suns are being called for ticky tack fouls consistently. Kwame Brown has played a good series, however, in game 3 he should have been ejected from the game for the flagrant foul on Boris Diaw and then making the foul worse by straddling over him like a stuck pig. Kobe has yet to have a foul or technical foul against him for his altercations with Steve Nash. In game 2, he runs across the court and shoves Nash away from helping his teammate. Then in game 3 he gets in Nash’s face and shoves him (once in the beginning of the game and then again in the 3rd quarter when Kwame got his technical for knocking Diaw down.). Yet with all the Artest (Kings) and Haslim (Heat) have been ejected and suspended for less. Raja Bell, in game 3 holds Kobe Bryant from spinning around him for the lay-up, gets the whistle and Bell slaps at the ball after the whistle from keeping Kobe from the continuation, and he gets a Technical. The inconsistencies in the officiating is ridiculously bad this season, let alone the playoffs. As well as David Sterns office, and the way he has handled issues so far this year. Numerous occasions have taken place as to Nash being raked across the arm(s) when riving the basketball by Parker and Vujacic without a single call. I know there isn’t supposed to be any preferential treatment of one player over another by officials, yet we all know it goes on. So, in stating that, why is Nash, the reigning MVP not getting any calls in favor of him? In game 4, it happened again numerous times, that Parker and Vujacic raking Nash’s arm(s), yet no fouls called. Driving the lane towards the end of the 4th quarter he drives the lane and Odom and Parker both rake Nash and they call the ball out of bounds for the Suns. Then at the end of the 4th quarter, Diaw lobs the ball from out of bounds to James Jones under the basket and Luke Walton grabs him, keeping him from getting a good shot at the basket, yet again, with no call. Then for another point in the atrocious officiating going on, Steve Nash gets trapped by Odom and Walton, Nash turns away towards Bennett Salvatore to call a time out and Bennett looks and waits for Walton to get a grasp of the ball in Nash’s hands. I know you are probably thinking I’m going on and on about the Suns not getting fouls called for them or the benefit of calls. Yes I am a Suns fan; however, I’m a basketball fan first. I haven’t watched a lot of the other playoff series’ this year, but what I have watched, the officiating has been one sided in every series. Now, as a NBA fan, what can I do to, besides sending this email, to try and get better officials out on the floor? I have officiated basketball games, and yes, there have been times that I’ve been out of position, but the way the officials have called games has progressively gotten worse over the years, and I’m getting tired of the no-calls and ghost fouls being called at the discretion of the current officials.

Sincerely,

SSgt James D. Shellenberger
