Ya sitting down?? I'm going with Tony Jefferson! Yep, that's right! He is the absolute best tackler on our team, by far! When he gets his hands on an opponent, they drop! He is extremely solid in coverage and of course is even better up in the box. He never makes mistakes...
He doesn't get the press, but he is the single most reliable player on either side of the ball!

While I love the enthusiasm and guts to call for Jefferson as the MVP I can't cast the vote. I do love what he brings to the D and see all the things you are singing his praises about but he doesn't get enough snaps to be awarded with the MVP award.

I do believe Jefferson was a major factor in our win today and he was making the most plays at the safety position today.

Coaching staff.

Gotta go with this also. This team never hangs their heads or gives up. This team doesn't play safe--they play to win. It's all attitude, instilled by the coaching staff.

Nope... Luv both those guys... But they are not as multi-faceted and consistent as Jefferson...

Alright, take out Foote and this defense is in huge trouble
Take out Dan Williams and what happens to our run defense
And what do you mean they are not consistent
Take out Jefferson, and the defense will not tank

Jefferson led the team with 11 tackles today. I don't have time to look it up, but I believe he's at the top for the season in tackles for our defense. And I don't believe this is the first time he has led the team in tackles for a game.
Williams and Foote have been very, very good this year, yet, IMO, Jefferson is a better tackler and more consistent on a play to play basis. I saw Foote miss a few tackles today which is actually what made me realize just how great of a tackler Jefferson is... When he has a chance to put a guy down on the turf, he simply never misses and the guy never escapes....
I would seriously wonder what would've happened today had Jefferson not put up those 11 tackles.

You said MVP of the season and not the Eagles game, but I do love me some Jefferson too :)

Yep. The top SEVEN tackles made in today's game were all players from the secondary. The top of that list was Jefferson.

That's understandable when the green pukes dropped back 62 times.

Foote had one tackle.

BTW, IMHO, the best tackler on the team is Tyrann....bar none. When I see a tackle being made, long before I see the number, I always know when it's Tyrann. He is pure tackling perfection. I can get tripped up between Jefferson, Johnson, Peterson, Cromartie, and Powers. 32 is unmistakeable.

Oh, and just because it seems appropriate right now, eff you Washington. Jackass.

He hasn't put up mind blowing numbers but I'd go with Ellington. He opens up so much for the offense, given his skill set he is one of the most irreplaceable guys on the roster.

Stole my choice as well.

I think by the end of the season it's gonna be Carson.

There are many choices at this point. On both sides of the ball. It's hard to pinpoint just one so far cause we've found ways to win in all different ways. By the end it will be most likely Carson. Tom Kelly? The two new rookies bucannon and brown. (Bucannon is the hardest hitter on the team by far, and had a game saving td today) then Floyd.... Ellington... I just can't pick one person just yet. It's gotta be BA and the staff if that counts. He's getting them to believe!! Our stats absolutely suck and were 6-1.

Carson has to be on offense making almost no mistakes and on D its Foote without him lining everyone up and running the D we would be a mess

There isn't 1 guy who can be called MVP were beat up and missing tons of guys and we just keep fighting and finding ways to win. This has been a fun ride.

I agree Palmer has been almost spot on most of the time and has made the plays when they counted most. Foote has been the glue to keeping the defense together. Foote is the defensive QB.

I would agree with this post. With all the injuries, this has been a total team effort, starting directly at the top. I can't even imagine how good this team could be if healthy. Very well could be a dominant team. Silver lining is that we are creating some nice depth. With some of these guys having to play due to injuries, the rookies' development on this team has been accelerated. That will pay dividends, if not this year, then definitely next.

If I'm choosing just one guy, I gotta go with Foote. The way he has stepped in and played full time MLB has been impressive. He's all over the field, and he's gotta be crowned as one on the leaders on D with Dockett out.

I still think you can make a strong case for Catanzaro although not so much yesterday. But he's been huge all year.

The defense has been pretty resilient, consider we've basically not had our pro bowl punter all year, Butler doesn't seem to be particularly good at anything, not great distance or hang time or directional kicking, that's really put extra pressure on the D all year.

Catanzaro on the other hand they never start past the 20 on KO's.
