Pete Carroll. I love his passion for the game. As ND was working on a 4th quarter TD on the USC 5, I look at the the TV screen and Pete Carroll is standing on the 12 yard line. He is talking to players as they came on and off the field. He jumped up and down when USC made good plays.

It was nice to see. Unlike Denny Green. Mr "I haven't talked during a game ever" and never strolls far from the 50 yard line.

I used to be high on Ron Riviera but have been disappointed on his half time adjustments most of this season.

The Cardinals would have to pay him big money and it is a long shot by far. Cardinals head coaches are average OC or DC's or retreads. Who else would take the job?

I hope that Carroll is starving to prove the NFL wrong. That he can coach in the NFL.

C'mon Leinart, help make it happen.

Gimme a break..

Overall record... Carroll 33-31 to McGinnis 17-40.

Carroll went to the playoffs two straight years with the Pats, winning a division and as a wild card. McGinnis never even sniffed the playoffs. If Carroll took the Cards to the playoffs two years in a row, 99% of this board would fully support him if he declared himself Emperor.

If he took the Cards to the playoffs two years in a row, I'd personally place the crown on his head.

Ok, so he took a Coslet team that missed the playoffs by 1 game and led them to 6-10 the next year...

Then took an 11-5 Parcells team, and worsened their record every year thereafter..

Face it, they are very similar NFL personalities.. Carroll has the edge record-wise, because he was a handed a better product to work with in the first place.

He took a Jets team on the cusp of the playoffs, to a very Cardinal-like 6-10 record, and followed that up by taking an 11-5 team to a .500 record in his final year.

Personally, I want a coach who has the reputation of turning crap..into shinola.. not shinola into crap.. which is all Pete Carroll has proven he can do in the NFL.

I am going to guess that he has learned a few things about coaching while at SC. He would do a better job the second time around.

But then again, for those who want to argue that we need a head coach with a good record in the NFL, we need to hire.... errrr....they already went that route with Denny. And that has worked well.

Like many, I was watching the USC Norte Dame game yesterday. What an exciting atmoshphere. Pete Carroll is King in L.A. He is recruiting a top ten class every year. I thought to myself; why would he want to come here?Sorry but i just can't see him giving up what he has to be the Cardinal head coach. Even though I have become a big Cardinal fan since I retired here in Phoenix 3 years ago, I realize that its been a poorly run organization by the Bidwells. Denny Green could not buy new office furniture when he got here because the old man (Mr. Bill Bidwill) would not apporve it. Why would a successful big time college coach like Pete Carrol want to put up with that crap??
Sorry but our new head coach will be someone who is currently an NFL OC or DC or a rethread like Martz, Fassell, Mariucci, etc.

He turned a crap USC program into the most dominant team in college football. When you evealuate Carroll you have to decide whether his years and success at USC have made him a better NFL prospect.

The only reason I could see him leaving SC would be if the program was about to get some big time penalties from the NCAA.

Pete Carroll. The Rick Pitino of NFL coaching.

Successful college coach, lousy pro coach.

Just say no.

I would take Carroll in a heartbeat. My second choice would be Jim Fassel. We had one of our best offenses when Fassel was here. The best would be Carroll as HC and Fassel as OC keep Pendergast as DC.

He's not coming here, that's for sure. I think he will return to the NFL, it will be when the NFL comes back to LA.

Cardinal Bob said it best. I don't know why everyone is so high on Carroll, I like the guy and what he's done at SC, but college and the NFL are two different animals.

Can't compare Mac and Carrol. Carrol has been to the big games as a coach at both levels college and pro's. I'm 100% the Cards going after him. Just think of a really juiced up Matt Lienart if it was to be announced. He is well respected X & O guy in addittion you get the emotions. With a guy like Carrol the stadium remains a sell out and maybe takes the next step/ I think the bigger question if we took Carrol is who will be the GM as IMO Graves will be gone for sure.

The GM would be Carrol. At least, he supposedly wants complete control of football operations. That's the one reservation I have about hiring him. That just hasn't worked well in the NFL. I don't think it was a coincidence that Seattle started to respond much better to Holmgren once he gave up his GM powers.
