I am assuming that Steve Keim reaches agreement with both Fitz and Dockett, and that he resigns Dan Williams at NT. I would then use Free Agency to set up my draft by signing:

(JUSTIN DURANT, OLB, Cowboys)-----Durant recorded 49 tackles, 4 passes defended, and 2 forced fumbles in his first 6 games before tearing a bicep and going to IR for the remainder of 2014. The Cowboys might not bring him back because fellow impending free agent linebackers, Rolando McClain, and Bruce Carter are both younger and probably have more value to the team than the 29 year old Durant. In addition, standout linebacker Sean Lee will be returning from injury, and Anthony Hitchens had a very strong rookie season.

Durant, (a potential starter), could play either strong or weakside in a 4-3 scheme, or on the inside in a 3-4 scheme like the Cardinals play. He would enhance the coverage in our base scheme, yet still be available to blitz from an OLB position when we play 4 down linemen. He would make a great compliment to Daryl Washington, who will join the roster at some point in 2015

At a likely rate of $2.5 or $3 million for a 1-2 year deal, he would be well worth taking a chance on for a team in need of a starting ILB.

(JUSTIN FORSETT, RB, Ravens)-----Likely the best bargain among the FA Running Backs, 2014 was Forsett's best year as a pro. He rushed for a 5th best, 1266 yards, and for 8 touchdowns. He also caught 44 passes for 263 yards. At 29, Forsett will likely not be valued as a top tier RB by the Ravens with the return of Ray Rice. Forsett is unlikely to garner a salary of more than $3.5 million per year.

(VIRGIL GREEN, TE, Broncos)-----A role player for Denver, (a team loaded with offensive passing weapons), Green made himself into the 4th best blocking TE in the NFL in order to secure a position with the Broncos. He came out of Nevada in 2011 heralded for his athleticism and his receiving skills. With a 4.64 forty, and a 42.5 vertical, he was one of the top performers in the 2011 combine. He was seldom used as a receiver for the Broncos. Unlikely to get a big offer from the Broncos, due to the large number of veteran contracts on their roster, Green could be available for around $2 million per year, AND could well outperform his contract. He would make an excellent compliment to Fells and Niklas on the Cardinals roster.

THE DRAFT:

RD-1 VICK BEASLEY, 3-4OLB, Clemson, 6-3, 235, 4.69 forty. In 2014 he recorded 11 sacks, 32 tackles (21.5 for a loss), 2 passed batted, and 3 forced fumbles. Beasley was very consistent with his sacks, recording them in the vast majority of his games, (including 6 straight). He is projected to go in rounds 1-2.

RD-2 LA'EL COLLINS, G/OT, LSU, 6-5, 321, 5'40 forty. In 2014 Collins was a reliable pass-protector AND run-blocker for the Tigers. Some supporters have him as a top 10 pick, but most feel that he should play guard or RT in the NFL. He played LT in 2013 and was extremely impressive. He protected QB Zack Mettenberger very well, and he did well in the run game too, showing the ability to be a 'plus' run-blocker. He is projected to go in late round 1 to round 2.

RD-3 JAKE RYAN, ILB, Michigan, 6-3, 236, 4.73 forty. In 2014 he totaled 112 tackles, (14 for a loss), 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 interception, and 3 passes broken up. Still, he wasn't the same players that he was in 2012 when he was Michigan's best defensive player. He tore an ACL in spring practice of 2013, and missed the entire season, returning in 2014 to a less stellar year than he had in 2012. He is projected to go in rounds 3-4.

RD-4 MARCUS PETERS, CB, Washington, 6-0, 190, 4.55 forty. The coaches kicked Peters off the team for multiple run-ins with the new coaching staff after just a couple of games in 2014. Sources say that this will cost him early selection in the draft. In and abbreviated 2014, he had an excellent game against Stanford, and against ASU, he covered Jaelen Strong better than any other DB this season. He has the quickness and agility to maintain coverage. If the Cards can do with him like they did with Mathieu, he could be a real find. He is projected to go in rounds 3-4.

RD-5 ANTWAN GOODLEY, WR, Baylor, 5-11, 220, 4.50 forty. He was slowed by a quad injury in 2014 and missed 2 games completely. Not tall, and built thickly, he could be a nice slot receiver in the NFL who could stretch the field. He could also be a special teams player. He is expected to go in rounds 4-6.

RD-6 CODY FAJARDO, QB, Nevada, 6-2, 215, 4.72 forty. Fajardo has been solid for Nevada for the past three seasons. In 2014 he completed 60% of his passes for 2498 yards, 18 TDs and 11 ints. In 2013 he completed 68% of his passes for 2666 yards, 13 TDs and 3 ints. In 2012 he completed 67% of his passes for 2786 yards, 20 TDs, and 9 ints. He has been accurate the whole time. He is projected to go in rounds 5-7.

RD-7 SPENCER ROTH, P, Baylor, 6-5, 220. Roth had an excellent Junior season in 2013 with 46 yards per punt, and a long of 72 yards. In 2014, the Bears didn't punt nearly as often, and since he was pinning the ball more often, his average was significantly smaller at 43.3 yards per punt with a long of 69 yards. He would be a great catch to compete with Dave Zastudil for punting honors.

I've seen mocks that have Collins going in the top ten no way he last until round 2

Justin Forsett averaged 3.5 yards per carry before contact. If you are expecting the Forsett who excelled for the Ravens then you better bring that stellar run blocking line with him.

I doubt Forsett hits the open market. If he does he will be looking for more than he is worth and some one will give it to him and it won't be the Cardinals.

Here are a couple of players I think SK may target

OLB Derrick Morgan-Tenn - Similar stats to Jason Worilds and probably would be half the cost.

RB Bilal Thomas-NYJ - Has averaged 4 ypc with the Jets and would be able to get that short yardage when needed. A good compliment to Ellington.

ILB Akeem Ayers-NE - Can bring pressure from the inside on passing downs. Can also provide coverage.

G Vladimir Ducasse-Minn - Just because I like his name.

G Dan Connolly-NE - Solid player who could replace Fannika

Good piece of work, Catfish!

Of your three UFAs the one who seems most likely is TE Virgil Green, although it wouldn't surprise me to see him re-unite with Colin Kaepernick in SF, especially seeing as he won't be commanding much more than the minimum.

Forsett has indicated a strong desire to return to the Ravens. It's very likely he will stay with them.

Durant is a good, versatile, do-it-all type LB. He would be a nice addition.

It would be an out and out steal to be able to take Beasley and Collins in rounds 1 + 2, as Beasley is projected as a top 15 pick and Collins is projected as a late 1st/early 2nd.

By selecting Ryan in Rd. 3---which seems a round or two early for him---are you conceding that kevin Minter is a bust?

What are your thoughts about Daryl Washington and what the Cardinals should do there?

In FA, I would be fine with Durant at ILB as long as he's cheap. ARZ needs a 215 - 220 pound power RB not another sub 200 pounder to get beat up like Ellington. I would rather draft Jay Ajayi in Round 3.

Does FA and the draft happen a day earlier for the Cardinals, than it does everyone else?

LOVE the draft for the sake its impossible. Vic in round 1 I think is all Cards fans wish, but itll be tough.

Lael is gone somewhere in the 1st.

Marcus Peters doesn't last till 4

Every team likes Durant, and most are in a better position to pay him than us.

Same for Forsett. Everybody just saw him have a monster season, and now hes a FA.

I doubt we are in the 'spend on TEs' business anymore. We've got Niklas and Fells to develop.

I'd like to see the team bring in Brandon Spikes and Anthony Spencer in FA.

What are your thoughts about Daryl Washington and what the Cardinals should do there?

I feel that if we can land Durant AND Green, we will have had a very successful Free Agency. Forsett would be icing on the cake in my opinion. Green might just choose us over San Fran based on our Coaching Staff and it's stability, (compared to the Niners situation), plus the opportunity to become the top TE target on the roster. He wouldn't be competing against S.F.s big TE for balls thrown in his direction.

My feelings are that Beasley just might be there for us at #24. That is based on his lack of top flight performance in 2014 after his injury in 2013 when compared to his 2012 performance. At this point in time, he has not really played like a #1 round player since the injury. Some GM's might pass on him as a 1st rounder at that point, and we could well be in the picture later in the round.

I know that Collins will be a crap shoot, but not that many people feel that he will be playing LT in the NFL. Most believe he will end up playing either RT or Guard, and therefore will go later rather than earlier. We shall see. If he is there at #48, we have a winner in my book. The closer he gets to our spot, the better chance Keim has of maneuvering to get him. Maybe the rights to D-Wash can sweeten the pot for us. If we land him there, we could start him at LG, (leaving RG open to competition between Cooper, Watford, and Larsen, with Larsen also pushing Sendlein for Center). That could make us a VERY nice situation on the O-line, (especially if either Cooper or Watford can step up and play well this year). Good talent AND nice depth from Tackle to Tackle. We could be set for years on the O-line.

I'm not calling Minter a bust-----The way he was used, he had little playing time to show what he can do. I believe he is more of an unknown at this point. He almost certainly can't cover however. I took Ryan in round three because of the almost total lack of ILB players on this roster, (especially knowing that D-Wash will miss at least 'some' time before he is cleared to play). I believe HE is the REAL unknown on this roster, and would rather cover this spot with Ryan than go wanting like we did in 2014. Just seems like good insurance to me. I'm kind of treating D-Wash like he would be a surprise bonus if he came back at some point in 2015 and played well for us. I just don't have a lot of faith that we will EVER see him give any real commitment to this team in the future. It's kind of my way of moving on from him just in case he is still all about ME and not about anyone else.

If you read my reply to Mitch, you might see where Collins just might be there for us. Peters has been a total bust so far in that he simply seems not to care what the coaches want. He just might still be there in round 4. With our success in dealing with Mathieu, he might come around with the right kind of handling. This staff has much to offer.

Walter Football has Ryan rated as the 4th ILB on their board, while they have Anthony rated as their #11 ILB. That is why I chose Ryan.
