I hear you...dude is a beast.

I think it was still the right gamble by Monti - everyone had Houston picking in the top 5 again the next year with a rookie QB.

Potentially getting two top 5 ish picks would have been amazing.

Stroud ended up being that guy and we lost the gamble.
In hindsight, it was clearly the wrong gamble. While we can't use hindsight, it wasn't hindsight when a lot of posters were drilling him for passing on Anderson. I found it a mistake then and still find it a mistake. Less of a total disaster mistake, thankfully, because PJJ isn't a bad OT, but still a mistake.

You never know where the next great player will be selected. But I know this is just your off-season shtick. You'll be back here in September optimistic as ever, just like the rest of us.
Ugh this old and faulty argument again? You’re right, except you’re minimizing your chance to land that guy the more teams that get to select before you. And you have to have a guy with superior talent recognition skills the further down the draft you’re picking. I think we’ve established that doesn’t seem to be monti at present.

I'm not minimizing anything. Does it matter where we pick? We pick 4th and pick wrong. We pick 16th we again we pick wrong, what's the difference? And I stand by my point that no one knows where the next great pick will come. And by the way it wasn't an argument it was an opinion.

If you truly believe this then you’re stating that no GM is actually better at drafting than any other and it’s all luck, right? Essentially no one can identify talent so it doesn’t matter where someone drafts. Got it. Quite the opinion.

Yeah, there were plenty of people here who didn't like that Anderson trade. Very tough to call that hindsight. Most people were willing to go into "wait and see" mode, but after seeing Robinson this year, that early skepticism certainly seems valid.

You don’t understand WC. You just sit back and wait to see how a player turns out and then pounce.

Look , the Tsms had a fantastic draft. But it points out that 31 other GM’s had multiple opportunities to draft every player the Rams drafted. So I guess they all suck.

if we stay with kyler we'll be right around .500 again - and picking right around #16 again - id rather go with tune and be a real player in the 2026 draft

I 100% disagree here. The Cardinals plan was to build through the draft and they needed draft assets to do so. They got their franchise LT out of those draft day trades and several other players at multiple positions.

While Offensive Linemen are not typically sexy picks that have easily measurable stats, they are still very very important. Especially when you consider a LT is protecting the blind side of the most valuable asset in the NFL (A Franchise QB). PJJ has been very solid at LT in his first season there. I saw a recent snapshot from PFF that had PJJ rated as the top OL from the 2023 draft class.

So far Garrett Williams has been fantastic as a starting slot corner. Not only is he great in coverage he is very strong in run support.

Adams is a work in progress at guard. He has shown impressive run blocking ability but needs a lot of work with his pass protection. I'm fine with him as a backup and hope he can develop into a starter someday. IMO it all comes down to one thing (can he improve his pass blocking).

Then there are (BJ Ojulari, D Robinson and E Jones) who were drafted on the defense side of the ball and haven't seen much time yet due to injury. IMO they get an incomplete grade so far. Only time will tell if one of these guys develops into a solid starter in the NFL.

That would tear down everything we are trying to build.
Do you really think you could sell the players that we traded Kyler to suck this year?

From your keyboard to gods screen. If that was the plan it seems odd to defer that from a year when we had the 3rd pick to the year we have the 16th.
I was listening to an Arizona podcast an hour ago one of em ….wolfley I think suggested Hernandez to left guard and a stud guard at 16…hmm I would rather get Trey smith and go edge

Taking a G at #16 overall would be very very very very disappointing.

Taking a guard at 16 is bad judgment.
Is it though if you are willing to pay one 20 million in free agency?

Personally I wouldn't draft one that high or ever pay a guard anywhere near that much. The position is just not that important.

So you think the rams were just lucky? And have been consistently lucky? And the cards have just been consistently unlucky. Man does that fly in the face of probability.
