I know I tend to be overly critical of this team at times, sometimes unfairly. Some of you call me on the carpet for this and it's deserved. Truth is, I've been a fan of this team over 40 years and growing up in an area dominated by Eagles, Giants, and Cowboy fans, among other teams, it's tough growing up rooting for a team who's legacy for losing is rivaled only by the Cubs when it comes to futility. Growing up rooting for a franchise like that gives you sort of a PTSD affect and when the team shows improvement or even a sense that they may actually contend, there's always this nagging sense that the rug is going to get pulled out from under you. For example, 2014. Things were humming along and just when it looked like we were really going to challenge Seattle, Palmer side steps a sack and goes down, blown out knee. Then to further kick us in the nuts, his back up who, while not great, is one of the better backups in the league, also goes down leaving us with a very green rookie and a guy who shouldn't even be taking snaps from the practice squad let alone for an NFL team and lo and behold, we get embarrassed in a playoff we should have won had even Stanton been healthy, setting a record for the worst offensive performance in a playoff game.

Then last year. Again, humming along with our hearts in our throats some times but we still found ways to win. Then, in the midst of another win, one of our best or at least our most inspirational DB on our team goes down, blown out knee, and we get exposed eventually getting embarrassed in the NFC championship game. Again, things going well then we get kicked in the groin.

So, now it's this year and in 3 seasons of BASK, as head scratchingly strange some of their moves might have been, the shackles of the Same 'Ol Cards should finally be removed. Even the national press doesn't look at us with a wry smile anymore. We are actually mentioned in the same sentences as New England, Seattle, Pittsburgh, and Dallas when it comes to the top franchises in the NFL.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm trying my damnedest to get over this PTSD which puts a doom and gloom cloud over me sometimes, even when we're winning so here's my pledge and I want you guys to hold me to it. From here on out, I will not unfairly criticize this team and most of all, I will not question this team's heart, which I was wrong to do. I'm going all in and I truly believe that we are the team to beat in the NFC this season. Now, I don't see us going 13-3 again although it wouldn't surprise me if we did but I do expect 11+ wins and a division title. We are the class of the NFC West and IMO the class of the NFC, Carolina be damned. So, here's to a great, great 2016 and may this finally be the season where we all can collectively say we can now die happy!

We are all recovering from those past years you mention. Criticism calls out comments from the other side of the house. Those comments make me think which is a good thing.

It usually takes me to about week 4 before I have a feeling what type of team the Cards are. Hopefully it is a great season
