I thought about this and while it makes perfect sense as both want out of their current cities. Only problem is Carter is a perimeter threat that we need since we gave up Richardson, plus his and Murphy's expirings means we could have a lot of cap room when the NBA comes back. Trading the TPE which we need to use gives NJ more money to offer Carmelo and rids them of someone they don't want in Murphy.

True but I have a hard time seeing Sarver taking on the remaining $7 million or so dollars on Murphy's contract. I would bet my house that any deals the Suns make between now and the deadline include some kind of financial gain for Sarver.

I'm fairly sure that cannot be done this way. A player's entire salary for that season counts against the team's salary cap, whether that player was acquired in the off-season or mid-season. And the Suns do not have enough of the TPE left to absorb Murphy's entire salary, so a trade for Murphy would have to involve Phoenix sending back players that combine for at least $9M. NJ is probably only interested in young talent and/or draft picks. Carter, with his buyout, might be acceptable if the Suns also were to include a pick and cash.

Carter's a huge bargaining chip. Giving away picks with Carter would be negotiating like Steve Kerr.

Man, Every big man the Warriors Draft becomes a bust:

Todd Fuller
Joe Smith
Adonyl Foyle
Andris Beidrins
Ike Diogu
Brendan Wright
Anthony Randoplh
Epke Udoh

They really should just trade the pick in any season they select a PF/C.

I don't remember Fuller, but Joe Smith has been a pretty serviceable role player for years. Though his best days are pretty far behind him now.

Everyone save Chris Webber. They took Joe Smith pretty high if I remember correctly, maybe even at number one, so serviceable doesn't cut it with that in mind.

Servicable is not what you want out of the #1 overall pick in the draft. Fuller was a freaking joke; mind you we (Warriors) passed on Kobe Bryant; Steve Nash, Predrag Stojakovic , and Jermaine O'neil just to name a few...

Even drafting #1 overall does not guarantee a team a franchise type player. I looked it up and it can be quite hit and miss. Of course if you are San Antonio and hit on players like David Robinson and Tim Duncan the future can be good.

Of course the Suns have never had the privilege of selecting a #1 overall pick.

I don't miss Kerr's bargaining skills. Dude must be awful at the poker table. He went after some good players though. New FO looks like they play it safer stocking up on mediocre guys. I wonder if they'll try to get someone decent as in All Star or All Star potential and not over-the-hill t-shirt selling guys.

The Gortat trade was really good actually. I still like it. They must follow up now. Get us DeAndre Jordan or Anthony Randolph and a real stud outside threat. I hope there's someone like JJ, Roy or Tyreke Evans in the draft this year.
