can we agree to limit it to "Cardinal - style" free agents?

its too easy to put Peppers, et al

thus, my three as follows:

1. Dansby (pay the dollars to keep your own)
2. Ryan Pickett, NT from GB. With BJ Raji taking over, Pickett gets overlooked and Cards get younger at the NT
3. Ryan Clark, S from Pitt. the Cardinal way is to sign ex-Steelers.

1. Larry Foote ILB (30) I'm a prone believer on making any rookie work for playing time. Foote would give us the year to groom an early pick this year into the starting role. Plus it allows whatever rookie we draft to play on special teams this year (if that's what Whiz wants).

2. John Kitna QB (37) Would be a good QB to guide Matt through the year. I know Kurt Warner trained him for this opportunity but that doesn't mean I wan't Matt going in without a "wiser" player behind him. Plus if he goes down with injury I would rather have a vet than a rook coming in to take Matt's spot.

3. Le'ron McLain FB (25 - RFA) Ray Rice and Willis McGahee for the past two years have been getting pretty easy yards behind this guy. I know he is a RFA but FB is one position that merges from one team to another pretty easily. If we could get him away from Baltimore (which I don't think we can) I think it would be the best FA pick up of the offseason.

I refuse to put down people we dont have a chance for like Wilfork or Peppers. I will only do realistic possibilites.

1. Ryan Pickett - Will get paid highly but not a monster contract. 2 down run stuffer you look for in a NT.

2. Ben Watson - I am not as high on Patrick as others. NE TE's tend not to be a focal point in their offense recieving wise but this guy has recieving talent to go with the blocking talent he learned while doing it a lot in NE.

3. Brandon Manublahblahblahblah - Big fatty TE, who in comparison to Becht is a younger and a slightly better blocker and reciever.

Good call, really like McClain. He'd definitely help out on the running game, and can actually get yards as a FB as well.

Really like that pick up as well. They already have his replacement so he should become a FA. I see no reason for GB to tag him or even resign him.

Exactly. I love Kreiders blocking but he's getting older and McClain gets us much younger and with a new contract. I honestly think the impact wed get from adding him to our offense would be greater than any draft piece we can get on offense.

Bah. Where is the fun in that !

1. Elvis Dumervil - Why? Do I need to explain ? Instant pass rush, and makes Dockett and Campbell twice as deadly.

2. Le'Ron McClain - The possibilities are endless if this guy is in our backfield. Showed his blocking abilities this year, in letting Ray Rice from Rutgers run like a rage rhinoceros. Plus he is just as BEAST running the ball. The Cardinals could go with 3 RB's and McClain as a backfield.

3. Derrick Johnson - The best guy to replace Karlos Dansby, but I don't know how he would work in a 3-4 defense. But he has great speed, and good hands.

1- Dunta Robinson: release McFadden, let Toler be the nickel, and the secondary is upgraded.

2- Antonio Bryant: it depends on how much money he wants. If Boldin is traded he'd dill in nicely but he's,in reality, not a likely target.

3-Casey Hampton: NT is in need of an upgrade, badly. I'm not sold on Pickett and he's an OSU guy.

1) Leigh Bodden CB Patriots - great in coverage and isn't affraid to provide run support

2) Ben Watson TE Patriots - A big target for Lienart who can also open holes in the running game.

3) Ryan Pickett DT Packers - 5 years younger than Robinson and I hate OSU guys

Outsiders:

Pickett, Pierce and Bodden shouldn't break the house.

I like the LeRon McLain addition as well.

In House:

I'd like to keep both Gandy and Bridges at reasonable b/u offers. After that I don't think either Dansby or Rolle are going to be worth what they demand, especially with a new CBA or possible lockout on the horizon in the near future.

It's not an easy yr. to be a GM. Many FO's are going to stay away from higher priced FA's. We speculated such on this board since last yr. allready.

Daniel Graham's value to the Broncos cannot be understated. I like Watson, and I'd love to bring him in.

Manumaleuna has been an FB in the past. Is he really a TE now, or is he more of the Jim Kleinsasser H-back guy now? As an in-line blocker, I'm not sure that Manumaleuna is an upgrade over Becht right now.

I think that Fred Robbins is a more realistic target for the Cards this offseason. I'm expecting Pickett to get a pretty nice contract from someone early in the process.

1. Larry Foote, LB. Imminent need. Groom a draft pick behind him.

2. Chad Pennington, QB. Best of a weak group, as long as his shoulder is improved. But, as I've said, the guy I want is Tyler Thigpen, but he is not a free agent, so a trade would have to happen.

3. Tie: Joey Porter, OLB...lead the youngsters and give the defense some much needed attitude and Anthony Henry, CB, coming off good year in Detorit, room him with Larry Foote and get some veteran leadership from him at corner, Foote at ILB and Porter at OLB.

Antonio Johnson, DT. UFA-Colts, could play DE in 3-4, drafted in '07

Angelo Crowell, LB. UFA-Bucs, coming off a torn biceps, possible bargain contract

Chris Redman, QB. UFA-Falcons, 2 years older than St. Pierre without the back problems

Semi-realistically:

1. Ryan Pickett-Not the ideal nose tackle, but the Robinson/Watson combo really wore down at the end of last year.

2. Casey Rabach-I know the coaching staff thinks Sendlein is the answer at center, but I just don't see it. Rabach is a little older, but his toughness and sound technique would be a huge asset to the line.

3. Deshea Townsend-I'm a little leery of older, ex-Steelers, but I think Townsend would be a solid signing for depth in the secondary if he would sign for cheap. Ralph Brown cannot be on the roster next year, and Adams should only be used as a CB in emergency situations.

  1. Larry Foote - It is important to solidify the MLB position before we work on the outside. He will be 30 so a 3 year deal should not be out of the question. Detroit has shown interest in re-signing him but does he want to play for a team that is at least 3 years from relevancy?
  2. Ryan Picket - Lots of ASFN love for this guy and rightfully so. A veteran presence that is not nearly as old as B. Robinson. I like his size (340 lbs) and with experience as a NT, should fit just fine and bring leadership
  3. Chester Pitts - Versatile G/T and at worst be a replacement for Bridges. He is athletic, durable (took all but one snap with the Texans last season), and a good run blocker.

Vince Wilfork- Sometimes you just have to pay somebody and this is the guy.

Marcus McNeil OT- This would give us a young LT that is in his prime that we badly need.

Demeco Ryans- ILB- Upgrade over Dansby and in his prime.

Now for three that we might actually go after because the first three are just dreaming.

Ben Watson TE Pats- He's in his prime and would be an upgrade for us as well as not break the bank to get him.

David Carr QB NYG- I would prefer Chad Pennington but I think he will want more money than the Cards will give. Carr has starting experience and is still fairly young (31) and has both the arm and talent to become a starter again if need be.

Derrick Johnson LB KC- Yes he is restricted but he only started three games last year and was in the dog house for Pendy. This guy has alot of talent and could turn around his career and be a probowler. He's young (27) and in his prime. Guys like Brackett and Morrison and Demeco Ryans are not going to be there either for the money we will want to spend or their team will tag them.

Kyle Vanden Bosch DE Ten- This guy has always been a player and gives his all. This is the type of football player that you want on your team. He's 31 now and just past his prime but is still a solid player. I would love to have him in our DE rotation. I think he can be had for a decent price too.
