Dude, Wendall Bryant was like 290 when we drafted him. Branch is 50 pounds heavier. If anything, Branch compares to a more athletic version of Jimmy Kennedy.
I'm not talking body style wise, I am talking top 10 bust wise.

Then why doesn't Branch remind you of Ryan Leaf? Or KiJana Carter?

I don't think there are a lot of questions about Branch's commitment to the game or interest in playing football. He comes out of a program with a strong history of producing good players.

There were flags about Wendell Bryant (coming from Wisconsin, being a 'tweener), but when he was taken it was generally considered a good pick.

Becuase Leaf or Carter were not DT's. Bryant was. And there are questions about Branch, about work ethic and he's one dimensional. He's great against the run not so great against the pass. It was the passing game that hurt us the most last year. We need someone who can get to the QB to take pressure off of the CB's.

I think he is probably the safest pick in the draft. It does seem to take the tall WRs longer to adapt in the NFL, but he will get by on speed alone for a while. I think a few of those other guys like Steve Smith or Bowe or Jarrett may end up like Mike Williams. I am just not sure they have the speed it takes.

One of the two QB's.

Over the past decade or two, roughly 50% of quarterbacks drafted high have proved to be busts. For every John Elway there's an Akili Smith or Tim Couch.

Which suggests that either Russell or Quinn will be a bust (and the other probably a success). Those are scary probabilities.

Note - Another interesting factor on who will or will not be successful as a pro is the amount of college playing experience at his position a player has. (I believe Akili Smith barely had one season of college ball under his belt by the time he graduated).

Adrian Peterson could easily follow in the steps of Garrison Hearst. Great potential but plagued by injuries throughout his career. What the hell, let's draft him.

Three way tie between Jamarcus Russell, Branch and Okoye.

Russell and Okoye are the classic workout warriors, where the hype is based on numbers rather than production. (Not staying that they didn't produce, but they never produced up to their current hype)

Branch looked lazy and unmotivated at the Combine and his workouts. That scares me.

Brown and Adams. (Branch is not top 10 pick IMO) Russell is a big risk but with his upside and a QB-friendly coach, it all depends on his work ethic.

Quinn will be fine. He had Weis preparing him for the NFL the last couple of years.

I will have to go with Joe Thomas. Left tackle is a hard position to play in the NFL.

This would be easier to do if the choice was " of the top ten draftees " after the draft. I would say whomever the Redskins pick and they have the 6th pick.

If I had to pick a player who I am sure will be drafted top ten and could bust, it would be............... Russell.

Nick Nawrocki thinks Alan Branch will be a force in the NFL if he is used in a rotation. He had to play every down for Michigan and wasnt fresh late in games.

Bump for year 2 posterity.

You're probably right with Russell. Alan Branch would be in there too. (if he is still considered top10)

Russell has been statistically sad in his full time role as starter. I haven't seen any live game to tell me otherwise though. Any baysider seen him yet?

Alan Branch. I wouldnt select him with YOUR draft pick!

Levi Brown.

What's interesting is that everyone one the Motown boards were almost unanimous in saying that Branch was Gabe Watson only with a stronger work ethic and was self motivating (whereas Watson, according to them often needs to be pushed).

I'm voting twice. My first vote was for Levi Brown and my second vote is for Levi Brown

Please let Joe Thomas be there at 5 or else I have a feeling I'll be an unhappy man on draft day

Levi Brown or Alan Branch...can't narrow it down to one or the other.

JaMarcus Russell, especially if he goes to the Raiders.

Bonus predictions:
Marshawn Lynch>Adrian Peterson
Reggie Nelson>Laron Landry.

If I remember my math class/hungry alligator metaphors correctly, the bonus... ouch Assface. Way to be bold though.

I miss k9, in his calm moments at least.

Peterson. Guarenteed. More than 50% of the RB's taken in the top 5 are.

So obviously Branch fell out of the first round entirely, taking some sting out of the fact he's busting. Getting tired is clearly not the issue, so maybe we take the Calvin Pace approach and move him to linebacker (heh).
