Would do this deal in a heartbeat

Why?

Gallanari, Wright??

Probably one of those (I assume you mean Chandler, not Wright), but the Knicks can't trade a first-round pick until 2014, so there's no additional help there. Curry would be included for salary purposes.

what deal would work for us?

None. Nash is up after next season, which will probably be lost to a lockout anyway, so there's no reason to dump him just for salary savings. The Knicks have only one good player, and he's not coming back to the Suns in a Nash trade.

I'd do it for a future pick or two and something like Mozgov and Fields. Even a pick 5 years in the future has value. I don't know if Mozgov will ever make it but Fields is a lot like Dudley in that he does a lot of the little things. But, I wouldn't send Nash to New York unless he wanted to go there. It's not like we'd be putting him anywhere closer to a ring.

Mozgov is already 24 and hasn't shown himself to be anything more than a curiosity. Fields might be a prospect, but he'd be redundant with Dudley and Childress. Nash doesn't have great trade value, but if the Suns do decide to trade him, they should be able to do much better than a couple of eighth men and picks a generation in the future.

I can't say I watched Fields a lot but my recollection of him as a college player has him much more comfortable down low and in traffic than Dudley would be. Granted, we need a 4 not another tweener but in the spirit of collecting assets he'd be a decent acquistion.

I doubt that we could equal or better a trade involving 2 unprotected future picks with Mozgov and Fields. We might not be even be able to equal or better that deal if it only included one future pick. We're not the only ones that realize that this may be the only season Nash plays in the NBA (age + lockout risks). Besides, isn't he about to run for President of Vancouver or something like that?

Are there any actual rumors of such a deal? If not, then this thread should be in the made-up trade scenarios forum.

As for the scenario itself, this deal would work great for the Knicks. They paid $100M for Amare only to realize that not all the parts that make Amare work were included. Now they are missing a point guard that can actually make Amare look like a superstar. So yeah if our motivation should be to make the Knicks and Amare better, then that would be a perfect trade. For the Suns however, the Knicks don't really have any picks or players that would help us in the long run, imo. What the Suns need is a young PF or C that could be paired with Dragic, someone like Randolph but less of a bust.

If you're referring to my suggestion, you left out the draft picks. IMO, this is the last year Nash will play in the NBA. Given that assumption, how much do you think he's worth?

Well that would mean a 2012 pick? I think the Knicks have intentions on getting Carmello in 2012.. I don't want another mid to late first rounder for 2012. This team is 5-4 and facing tough teams every night out. I would like to see the Suns pick up some defensive talent and see what they can do.

Really? Where's your proof of that? It's not like he has another year on his contract. Oh. Wait.

It seems obvious that the number of teams willing to give the Suns premium picks for Nash is very low. IMHO Nash is not going away although his minutes may finally get reduced.

C'mon Chap, you know darned well I didn't say it would happen. I clearly said IMO. There is no proof because it is just my opinion. Could I possibly be wrong? Absolutely! BUT, it's not an unreasonable opinion and I am quite sure our possible trading partners would possibly also consider this possibility. As I mentioned earlier, the combination of his age and the possible lockout make it quite possible that this is his last year.

I just reread my post and noticed that I quite possibly set a record for over-using the word possible.

Nash has said (no link) that he wants to play beyond his current contract. The Knicks are a good example of what the Suns would be like less Nash.

I hope so too, just because I want him to get a ring. And that's not happening here. If it wasn't for that, I'd want him to stay and play until he was 50. :)
