I guess D'Antoni figured out coaching a team is a lot harder without Nash, LoL. From what I've read, he's already on the hot seat in NY.

I'm thinking this is resolving the issue whether the Suns were good because of DA's offensive philosophy or it was because of Steve Nash. I think it was a little of both but primarily because of Nash. DA needs a spark plug to properly operate his system.

Nash's divorce is fueling a lot of the rumors. They've actually been split for a number of months. There's been speculation that his wife wants to move to New York and Nash doesn't want to live that far away from his children.

I'd feel bad for Nash if he ended up in NY. Even with Nash the Knicks are still a horrible basketball team. Right now I see a Suns team that is starting to figure things out. They may not be champions but this team seems pretty alright, and the lack of size, rebounding , defense is made up so far by key stops, big shooting, hussle, and the desire to win.

We'll see what the future holds. This Suns team is friggin fun though!

In a van...down by the river.
Another trade thread here involving one of our best players that should of been seriously discussed 2 years ago(Nash,Amare,Hill) when they had REAL trade value and the franchise had a REAL chance to flush the toilet on the D'Antoni era and move on with some legit assets(players with upside, draft picks)....instead some of you are now trying to fix the barn door after the horses have come home.

But i'll play along...
NY and D'Antoni would love to bring in Nash(do i need a link for that Chap?)um anyway, like many have said NY doesn't have alot of viable options in terms of fair trade value. Of course this was one of the arguments from a couple years ago(that i didnt buy at all) when discussing moving a 35 yr old like Nash who had peaked ability-wise IMO, well now thats oh so true....good luck getting any compensation worthy of the effort involved at his point.

I'd take a 2015 first round pick for Nash at this point.

Call a press conference, have a big ceremony at the arena, invite Mike D'Antoni,Shawn Marion,Amare,Bell,Barbosa,Shaq...well maybe not Shaq;), and have a party to retire his jersey and give him the props he deserves for his hard work and professionalism here as a PHX SUN and move....the hell....on. But thats just me. :)

Why does anybody here really think the SUNS would move Nash anyway?

I say at this point Nash retires a Sun, UNLESS Nash wants to be traded to a contender to get a ring. Teams aren't exactly beating down the doors for an aging white point guard at this point. I think the Suns would trade him if Nash asked because they feel they owe Nash for what he has done for the franchise. Otherwise, if Nash wants to stay, I bet they let him.

Yeah, no doubt, Suns > Knicks! If he moves anywhere, it would be a top contender. Seeing Nash play in Miami with the big three there would be fun, imho. I cannot see Nash going to that horrible Knicks team.

I sort of agree. I don't think they'd move Nash if he asked them not to.

Is there a team that would instantly jump to a top 3 contender by adding Steve Nash?

Atlanta maybe?

Josh Smith is only 25 years old and I read that they may want to move him to save money.

Doubt Nash would want to go to Atlanta even if he thought he might get a ring.

What do they have to trade?

Nothing. I didn't think that was part of the question.

And also, no way is Atlanta a top-three contender with Nash, especially if it costs them Smith. Not even close. Why some of this board continues to view Joe Johnson as a superstar is beyond me.

JJ is overpaid, for sure, but as a 3rd piece next to Nash/Horford with crawford off the bench? Seems like they'd have some potential to make some noise.

Yes, I agree that "they'd have some potential to make some noise." But that's miles away from being a top-three team. As the Suns discover year after year, "making some noise" in the playoffs and being a real contender are worlds apart.

I don't know what they could send us that would make the trade worthwhile and still keep Smith but add Nash to that team intact and I'd give them a fair chance to make it to the finals. Joe Johnson is a very good player but I'd rather have Horford or Smith over the guy.

I agree. I've always wished we'd been able to keep JJ but I'd want Horford more now.
