And also, no way is Atlanta a top-three contender with Nash, especially if it costs them Smith. Not even close. Why some of this board continues to view Joe Johnson as a superstar is beyond me.

I wish we had signed JJ for 50 but in retrospect, I'm really glad we didn't pay him 70 or his ridiculous new contract. He wilts in the playoffs. He is not worth what he's being paid. Not even close.

Yeah, no doubt, Suns > Knicks! If he moves anywhere, it would be a top contender. Seeing Nash play in Miami with the big three there would be fun, imho. I cannot see Nash going to that horrible Knicks team.

Honestly, with the way the Heat are playing, If Nash was dealt to them, then that would mean Bosh would be coming here (since he's more of the odd man out with Wade and Lebron). Nash, Wade, and Lebron would be interesting though. <<<Nash, Hill, Clark for Bosh, Chalmers, Vernado>>>

No way. The Heat already have two ball-dominant guys in Wade and LeBron, and that's causing chaos in chemistry. Adding a 3rd ball-dominant player in Nash wouldn't help at all.

It would be an under-utilization of his skills but do you really think they could find a better spot-up shooter than Nash? He could play another five years if they used him primarily in a Steve Kerr like role. Note that I'm not saying that's what Miami is missing.

They have a spot-up shooter in Mike Miller; unfortunately he's out until January. Spot-up shooting isn't Nash's game. Most his shots come off the dribble; to ask him to change his game at this stage in his career wouldn't make sense.

The Heat need a strong defensive point guard who doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective. A guy like Kirk Hinrich would fit a lot better in Miami than would Nash.

It hasn't been his game in a long time but I see nothing in his game to make me believe he's lost that ability. I haven't watched Miami play this year so I don't know but is the absence of a defensive PG really the reason they've yet to put it all together? If it isn't I'd still take Nash over Hinrich although I think Kirk is underrated.

I'm not saying a defensive PG would solve all their problems. The biggest thing they're missing is an inside presence. Bosh has been disappointing to say the least.

Nash's biggest strength is his ability to probe defenses and set up his teammates. Take that away by making him a spot-up shooter and you're basically left with an $11 million Sasha Vujacic - a guy that can hit outside shots, but is a huge liability on the other side of the floor. For that Miami team, Kirk Hinrich makes a lot more sense.

Chauncey Billups would be a good fit for the Heat. The Heat experiment this year shows how important chemistry and the 4-8 positions on the roster are.

I am really hoping this Miami experiment falls flat for two reasons. Players shouldn't be running teams, and LeBron is unlikable.

Yep, Billups would be a great fit there as well... of course if we take salary into account, none of the above mentioned guys could be easily traded for, as all 3 make between $9 and $14 million.
