Rondo for the Celtics is >>>> Nash playing for the Celtics.

Rondo doesnt need to score as much, although he could improve shooting wise.
But rebounding, defense, athletism... everything Celtics need.

Exactly. They got plenty of scorers in pierce and allen. Even Garnett, as good of a scorer as he is, has reduced his scoring to let pierce and allen do their thing. They need a point guard who can guard, not another playmaker/scorer. And why would they want JRich? He'd have to sit on the bench behind pierce and allen. You think the Celts are going to drop their minutes? Sorry man, its not going to work.

With the thinking that HOUSTON plans on keeping TMac and resigning Artest.....and would consider renting Nash for a year to try to get over the hump in the West. They would still have Brooks to share minutes with Nash and take over when Nash's deal runs out.
This deal really guts Houston's depth though so its very unlikely that they'd consider it.
Their starting 5 would look good:
NASH
TMAC
ARTEST
SCOLA
YAO

ROCKETS trade:

Battier $6.4 mil (2 yrs left)
Landry $3 mil (1 yr left)
Lowry $1.1 mil (1 yr left)

SUNS trade:

Nash $12.2 (1 yr left)
Tucker $1 mil (1 yr left)

Suns could go with:
DRAGIC/LOWRY
JRICH/BARBOSA
BATTIER/DUDLEY
AMARE/LANDRY/LOU
SHAQ/midget clown
--------------------------
or.....we could give the Rockets backcourt an offensive lift, relieve them of TMac's undependable services and have 2 expiring contracts worth $40 mil next season(Shaq/TMac).
Hope that between Dragic and Lowry that one of them emerges as our PG of the future.

ROCKETS trade:

TMac $20.3 mil (1 yr left)
Lowry

SUNS trade:

Nash
JRich $12.2 mil (2 yrs left)

No kidding, I'd do it. Plus send JRich to Clips for Davis, we'd start

shaq/amare/hill/battier/davis
with landry/lou/robin/dudley/barbosa/dragic/lowry

This trade makes a lot of sense. Lowry can be a very good point guard, and he's, at this point, a proven commodity. T-Mac will probalby have a good season with us (due to the training staff), and then we'll have a ton of flexibility in 2010 due to the expiring contract situation. Plus, we'll still be able to field a competitive team, and probably make the playoffs if everybody stays healthy.

We're going nowhere with this current lineup. With this deal, we'll have more flexibility in the offseason and a good, young point guard with Lowry. On the other hand, Houston needs a good distributing point guard badly. They lost to the Lakers because they couldn't execute offensively; the ball would get stuck too much, and people would stand around overdribbling only to jack up a contested shot. While Brooks is a good player, he's a much better scorer than a distributer. Plus, they have the defensive ability to hide Nash better than we do. I also have the feeling that they're looking to move T-Mac. They already have too many swingmen, and they proved that they can win without T-Mac.

Jason Kidd intends to return to the Mavericks for a three-year, $24 million deal, according to HoopsWorld.
HoopsWorld cited an "informed source."
Kidd said that he would take the holiday weekend to mull over offers from both New York and Dallas.
Barring an unforeseen development, Kidd is expected to tell the Mavericks on Monday that he will accept the offer.

Does this set the market for Nash? I like keeping him for $8mil/yr, not at $13mil/yr.

Steve Nash remains confident that he'll sign a contract extension with the Suns at some point this summer.
However, Nash added that he'd love to play for the Knicks if an agreement isn't reached with the Suns.
"I would preface it by saying that I love Phoenix and that's what I'm focusing on right now," Nash told the Globe and Mail. "But I live in New York City, and I love it there, and [Knicks head coach] Mike D'Antoni was one of my favorite coaches. If it didn't work out in Phoenix, obviously that would be a place I'd consider."
The Knicks have been linked to Jason Kidd on the free agent market, and are known to be looking for an experienced point guard.

Please let this happen.

We can only hope because Nash last thing I read was that Nash was looking for a 29 million dollar extension. A 36 year old PG that doesn't play defense is not worth tying up that much in cap space no matter how many MVPs and regular season games he has won.

If Nash was only seeking 8 Million per year....AND you are grooming his replacement then sign me up.

Wow. Let's just trade him now. He's not going to want to be here during the rebuilding. Let him go home. He'd probably be one of the pieces New York wants anyways to lure Lebron. Maybe we can get their 2010 1st rounder.

With Artest gone,Ariza added and Yao's future an uncertainty I'm going to revisit this HOUSTON/PHX trade.
-TMac(expiring)
-Lowry(decent young guard who can defend and shoot)
-Landry(good young PF[undersized]that IMO hasn't been given an
oppourtunity)
-Future 1st rd pick(unprotected) '2011 or '2012
-Additional considerations (2nd rd picks/cash)
for
-Steve Nash
-JRich
-Robin Lopez
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=n3km8l
SUNS can then sign a cheap garbage center like Frye,Wilcox,May.

Start:
Dragic/Lowry
TMac(if healthy)/Barbosa
Clark/Dudley
Amare/Landry/Lou
Wilcox/Amare/Lou

Why for us:
TMac's $20mill expiring in '10.
JRich is overpaid IMO and I'd like to see Barbs get a shot sooner rather than later.
Unload Nash to a better team so we can move on and let Dragic/Lowry compete for the starting PG.
I'm a fan of Carl Landry, undersized but he's tough and he's got some skills.
For those that like Amare at C, Landry would fit in nicely at the 4.
Adding future picks.
This move would officially signal that we're rebuilding instead of lingering in no man's land.

Why for Houston:
They desperately need help in the backcourt. Retooling with Nash and JRich would reinvigorate that team IMO. Two proven veteran starters.
No more TMac injury distractions.
Scola wouldn't be competing w/Landry for minutes any more.
Lopez is a young, inexpensive insurance piece behind Yao.
Nash/Brooks
JRich/Wafer
Ariza/Budinger
Scola/Battier
Yao/Lopez

Do you seriously think Houston will trade for guards when they need to fill the hole created by Yao's absence?

My thought is if they think that Yao's not going to be back,it's going to very difficult to replace him. Who's out there? Nobody. They may think that refocusing on a more uptempo system they can be more successful.

If the Suns trade Nash, how about considering a trade for Lee. I think the salaries would work. The Suns would then need to sign Jannero Pargo.

I'd love that trade for the Suns, but wonder why Rox'd do it. They just got med. exception granted for Yao's absence and could not sign (?) someone for half of his salary which is close to 8mil. They have a lot of flexibility now.

I saw this thread title, and was about to blast in here to proclaim someone as a troll, until I saw what date this is from.

In hindsight yeah, maybe. Nash is playing lights out, like it's a contract year and the team is steam rolling thru the regular season thus far. I hope he can stay healthy ALL year & keep blowing up the boxscore.
Still, T-Mac is a huge expiring and Landry in 25 min per game is putting up some good numbers, 16ppg 6rpg on 55 FG%. He's a legit young PF imo(with healthy knees).
I still say that having Hill here is taking away from the development of Clark and stealing Dudleys minutes but that prob doesn't matter to the win now crowd & i can understand that POV.

We wouldn't be running and scoring as many points obviously(and probably wouldn't be in 1st place either)......but we'd have more of a future and genuine flexibility IMO.
