Whoo-hoo! What a week for Nash! :D

Congratulations to Steve Nash. He really didn't need this competition to prove he is the best skills player. He does it every night on the court.

Too bad some Suns fans won't really appreciate what a great player he is until he is gone.

Grats to nash on winning the skills challenge, I missed it just got back from who did he beat to win it? By the way Frye looked pretty decent in the 3pt contest not great but good enough for a 7 footer. But man Peirce really wen't out 20 was pretty sick even though I hate the celtics...

Amen to that. We will miss him when he's retired. I enjoy every game just watching him work, win or lose.

"But it makes it OK when you win a resume builder like this," he said.

Congrats, Stevie. You know he wanted to stick it to the Mavs organization.

Too bad a lot of Suns fans just want to focus on his turnovers and "too much dribbling" LoL.

it was funny to see the mavs fans give steve no type of emotion when he was intro'd. they didn't cheer or boo lol. then the hometown D'will got an ovation lol. I feel bad for steve right now. he is a gem getting wasted if the suns are gonna unload amare for nothing in return. not a good sign if you ask me.

He didn't want to stick it to the Mavs. We went to Dallas and lobbied hard for Steve. After our offer Steve went to Cuban, who is richer than Midas, and asked just that Cuban MATCH the Suns offer and Cuban said no. Then Cuban went on his blog and said Steve was too old and washed up to play that much. Then Steve went on to win to MVPs. KInda made Cuban look like an idiot if you ask me.

honestly cuban is a genius. the guy's team got better when the mvp left. maybe it made cuban look dumb for a year, but I'd say cuban is up there with the elite nba teams with keeping a winner and a fanbase happy. I hope he makes another move before the deadline to push the mavs right to the top.

yes steve wanted to stay in dallas and I think most dallas fans wanted him to stay, but he left with some question marks and didn't exactly take the suns any higher than he took the mavs. so if you keep things in perspective cuban really didn't lose much afterall.

Hi Mark Cuban! So glad you could come by our boards and post your opinion on the subject.

Teams always get better when they sell their MVP short and badmouth him in public. Just another sign of your genius, big fella! Doesn't matter if the man's been the heart of your team, you know you've got the money to replace him in time!

And, absolutely, money = genius.

But, Mark ol' bud, with all of your genius...where's your championship trophy?

my name is not mark cuban, but i wish it was. I'm a solid member of these boards as a fan of all dallas sports and it is a pleasure talking with you guys. I know because of that I have to deal with some of these posts every now and again.

and yes mark is a genius......he needed to let nash walk and it was the right move for the mavericks. It was the right move for the suns too. One man's trash is another man's treasure as the suns and their fans should be thanking mark cuban not bashing him. with no steve nash they never make it out of the first round with that team that they had. and while nash is a great offensive PG, his play over his career has never been conducive to winning a championship much less the WCF. so I think mark knew what he was doing eventhough he himself never figured out how to win the big one.

no championship for dallas?? well it stinks that the 06 mavs fell short. It was a heartbreaking loss for dallas and their fans. Barring another trade over the next week or some strong FA aquisitions next year, the window for dirk winning it all starts to shut completely. it's already razor thin IMO.

BTW I love steve nash. He is still my favorite PG in the league despite not being a mavs player. I hope things work out for him, but something tells me those teams that lost to SA/Dallas in the playoffs were his last opportunity at a title.

I am not sure "stole" is the right word. That would diminish one of the worst collapses in NBA history. ;)
one of the games there was bad officiating which helped the heat.....it ended with free throws on a phantom call. the other 3 were a collapse. that's basically how it turned out.

I think most fans here would exchange Sarver for Cuban in a heartbeat.

Not paying Nash is one thing, but not paying Nash in favor of ERICK DAMPIER is another thing altogether.

I do agree from a franchise standpoint not having Nash ultimately was the right call, it allowed Dirk the room and credence of being the face of the franchise and it Dirk, for the most part, has been a better player as a result of it.

There were bad calls in that one game all around. Plus, any coach will tell you that if you lose a game on a bad call you didn't do your job for most of the rest of the game. A game shouldn't be that close if you do your job.

oh my bad steeldog....i didn't mean to give that perception. I blame the mavs for not finishing the series when they had multiple opportunities. A lot of mavs fans and other NBA fans have blamed the refs for that series. The way I see it is there was only 1 call that was phantom and changed the ending of a game. There were plenty of other chances for the mavs to win that series and they can't blame the refs. They can mostly blame theirselves and DWADE of corse who averaged 40 pts a game in that series.

You have to look at it from this standpoint. The mavs had nash, dirk, and finley for about 4 years and it appeared that they had peaked together. and cuban was right that tandem had indeed reached its peak together. They had started to go backward. Nash and finley clearly needed a change. Nash was a FA, finley was strapped under a big money deal and as soon as cuban had the opportunity to drop him he did. At that time the mavericks glaring weakness was an inside rebounder/defender/scorer. Dampier averaged a double/double with GS the year prior. As week as he may be he was actually somewhat of what the mavs were looking for and did help their defense and rebounding. Back in the day with nash, dirk, and mike finley the mavs were almost the same thing as what phoenix put on the court in 2004-2007. cuban had to make a change because that wasn't working out in the playoffs.
