A big deal has been made in the past about Nash's minutes and the need to give him more rest during regular season. D'Antoni was criticized heavily last year for playing him 34 minutes a game. So far this year, Nash's average is at 35. Yes, it's only two games. But, according to Porter: "Thirty-four minutes is about right for him. We can keep him fresh that way." So, apparently, Porter believes that Nash can still play as much as he did last year.

well, hopefully better TEAM defense and offense can help nash out even though he's playing the same amount of minutes for now.

that way he's not always going full throttle.

he has also won half of our games. he isn't raising nash's minutes either. it's only 2 games, we have to get into the swing of things first. playing 35 minutes instead of 34 won't kill the guy

Please tell me you're just being sarcastic.
well i had to sit through the past two seasons of people complaining about how much coach D played Nash. so i thought I'd point out that he is averaging more min.

If I didn't look at the stats I would think Nash is getting less minutes. Maybe it's because I'm concentrating on the play of Dragic.

As of now it appears the Suns offense is not running smoothly and the defense doesn't seem any better. Maybe it was the Suns playing a good Hornets team or the Suns just lacking chemistry. I guess I just do not see any identity with the Suns. They are no longer known for their offense and their defense is not there either. Also the Suns turning the ball over is a killer. If the Suns should lose to Portland tonight expect some jittery fans.

I wonder if the Suns might eventually go back to something like D'Antoni's style on offense sort of like the Suns abandoned previous efforts to install the triangle offense in years past. It's ironic that with a deeper bench the Suns have the players to really play 7 seconds or less and still have a rested team. IMO, Porter should have kept the Suns old offense and just worked on the team getting better defensively.

Isn't how he plays more important than how much he plays?

I believe that, under Porter, Steve Nash will not be expending himself on every play as was necessary in the past.

And, hopefully, he will not be taking as many charges.

Playing smart will get us to the playoffs in better shape. Not just Nash, but the whole team.

Moving Grant Hill to the second unit is one example. Developing young backup Point Guards all season long is another.

This should've could've been done 3 yrs ago under the other guy.
I agree with you,the SUNS lack of identity at this point is a problem....but it will emerge.

this is amazing that there is even a conversation about Nash's minutes after 2 games !!

how about we give it 10-15 games to devolop a REAL average.
