Well I'm not too upset. We've pulled out a lot of lucky wins...the bullpen was going to screw up sometime. Let's just hope they got it out of their system and do well vs. Florida. A 4-2 homestand is pretty solid.

For a closer that is close to leading the league in saves Valverde has pretty weak stuff.
I can't remember another closer with as many saves that lacked a dominate pitch.
His fastball tops out at around 95 on a good night and he doesn't have any other dominate pitch like great closers usually do.

Once again the Valverde naysayers come out of the woodwork. After several DOMINATING performances, he has a let down. And to be fair to him, he never should have had to pitch today.

Yeah, I thought he was done after the top of the 6th. Melvin was lucky that Pena came in and got the DP. Unfortunately things went downhill from there. Owings got screwed out of a win after a solid pitching performance through 6.

That was the worst game of the season right there. Pena is a one inning pitcher. We should of definately had more runs that game... what a disappointment. hopefully they can rebound because everything was going so well, and they let that one get away.
