Some intresting options I see:

Tony Delk - I didn't like him much but maybe he'd be a decent sparkplug on the bench and could backup PG/SG at a low price.

Kwame Brown - Could be a Steven Hunter type player? Where we get him in hopes of developing him. What kind of contract is he going to want/get?

Daniel Santiago - Cheap C who wouldn't get minutes. More over a roster filler.

Rodney Rogers - Can be a good SF/PF backup and maybe cheap?

Cliff Robinson - Backup PF? Cheap, why not?

A lot of former Suns. :D

Instead of Payton, what about Jeff McInnis? I liked him when he was here in LA.

Guys I like, not necessarily options for the Suns, but it'd be nice to see...

Bold are ones I think we could conceivably use...

Now, most of these are untouchable (especially the "Player can terminate" ones), but they are the ones I would at least be open to discussing.

Some players I would be interested in that (hopefully) wouldn't break the bank.

Kwame Brown
Antonio Daniels
Dale Davis
Donyell Marshall
Luke Walton
Ronald Murray

IMO, if the Suns can somehow get Zaza Pachulia, RFA from Milwaukee, I would feel much better about this team (plus a backup PG).

I like the way this youngster plays. He is big and skilled. This would be my primary target if he were obtainable. With Milwaukee getting their big man at number one they might be inclined to let him go or do a sign and trade.

Well you gotta assume that one of either Gadzuric or Pachulia will be available.

I think Kurt Thomas takes care of some of the frontline shortfalls, I think that they definitely will answer the backup PG position in FA. I just noticed Juan Dixon's option was not picked up by Wash, he would be a great pick up. Character guy and gutsy, I think Inside the NBA did a profile on him and he has the moxy that the Suns need off the bench.

Forget Payton.

Give either Finley or SAR and Dixon.

Chaplin, I respect your opinion.

Do you have a similar take on Pachulia?

Certainly Gadzuric would fit well on this team but, IMO, he is not as skilled nor does he have as much upside.

This is a tough question. I think subconsciously I have a slight bias against Gadzuric because I thought he wasn't very good when he was at UCLA (and I hated UCLA). :)

I like Pachulia, but I hesitate to say he would be my top choice if he was unrestricted. I still like SAR--no matter how unreasonable that is with this Suns team. :)

I think Pachulia could start and fix our front line with KT coming off the bench to relieve Amare and Pachulia. I definitely want another big man or two for our frontline.

I would probably go for jouneyman at the minimum (or wisely use the MLE) for most positions other than I would go the extra mile for Pachulia.

Kareem Rush Charlotte UFA
Bostjan Nachbar New Orleans UFA
DerMarr Johnson Denver UFA
Kerry Kittles LA Clippers UFA
Anthony Peeler Washington UFA
Steve Smith Miami UFA

Kevin Willis Atlanta UFA
Aaron Williams Toronto Player can terminate
Robert Traylor Cleveland UFA
Mikki Moore LA Clippers UFA
Donyell Marshall Toronto UFA

Players who aren't on that list, but might be available anyway:

Michael Finley
Brian Grant
Allan Houston
Chris Webber (unlikely)
Theo Ratliff (also unlikely)

If you can think of any more, please add them to the list. :)

For bigs I would go for Rebraca, Dale Davis, Or Pachulia. I don't think that we can do much better than that and we probably don't have to.
Than go for Finley or Kittles. There are lots of options out there. It should be interesting.

Actually, looking at that list again, I think Mikki Moore would be a great replacement for Hunter. Moore's not as big as Hunter, but he does a lot of Hunter things plus some things Hunter didn't do, and he's fairly reliable.

The problem with Moore is that they'd probably have to split the MLE to get him, but if they're getting Finley for free, splitting the MLE might make sense.

I mean for the vet's minimum, i.e. the Suns won't have to use an exception.

I would say Austin Croshere, Mashburn (he must be close to a medical release), Tony Battie or Doug Christie are possibilities, Eddie Jones, Charlie Ward or Vin Baker. Those are about the only possibilities I saw.

If we're talking about backup 2/3's what about Bobby Simmons? He'll probably be a little bit expensive, especially when compared to Finley, but he's a lot younger and could be useful for longer than finley.

I expect Simmons to be pretty hot this summer. Compare him to Q and Simmons had much better stats.
