Thought I'd get a thread going for the lottery itself, which will take place next Tuesday, May 15th. We got 5 more days to go until we know where we'll pick, which will help us figure out who we'll pick. The draft itself is not until June 21st.
The Lottery will be televised on ESPN at 7:30 Eastern/4:30 Arizona Time next Tuesday, May 15th. The drawing will take place in Chicago this year, which will be the first time in NBA history the drawing is taking place outside of New York or New Jersey. The Suns are sending Josh Jackson as their representative. They sent Booker the last 2 years and he didn't bring us any lucky. I saw Booker wished Jackson luck on Twitter, saying he hopes he has more luck than he did. Maybe with a new rep and in a new location the Suns can finally get lucky.
Suns.com has posted an article about the lottery, running down how many times the team with the best odds at the #1 pick have gotten the #1 pick as well as some other notes on the lottery over the last 24 years.
The Suns have the highest odds at the #1 pick since they had the worst record this last season, giving them a 25 percent chance of getting the first pick and a 64.2 of landing a pick in the top 3. The farthest they could fall is to pick #4.

Here is how the lottery drawing itself works...
The current system was implemented in October 1993. Fourteen ping pong balls are numbered 1 through 14. There is a four-number combination randomly selected from the lottery machine. The order that the numbers are drawn, does not matter. Each team participating in the lottery is assigned specific combination outcomes. There are a total of 1,001 combinations (although if 11-12-13-14 is drawn, it is ignored as it is the only combination not assigned to any team). They continue this process to determine the second and third pick as well.
