So gambo is saying suns tried to trade Dario for a 1st rounder.

ok, fine I understand trying for a first, but take a second if you have no intention of resigning him.

From an article by Gina Mizell:

I like our team. I’m encouraged with our progress, as we shift our focus to the second phase of the season, post-trade deadline. I just felt that we’re building, and I didn’t want to disrupt the continuity. That’s generally why we didn’t make a move. Our guys are getting better.

Continuity?!?!? The team is going into the crapper and has been playing awful basketball for two months. What kind of masochist wants to continue that???

Exactly this. Now he is nothing but dead weight that nets us nothing.

My guess, it may be hard for James Jones to admit many of his personnel decisions were wrong or lackluster his first full season as a general manager.

Accepting a second round pick for Saric would be one of those especially after he traded down in the draft to get him.

There is a word for that: Narcissism.

I may be in the minority here but I'm generally ok with standing pat. I don't think there's a trade that gets Phoenix into the playoffs, and I don't think they should be making trades just to shake things up. We still haven't seen a solid stretch where the whole team has been healthy. They may not be world-beaters but they should be stronger than they currently are. Phoenix doesn't need MORE assets, they need BETTER assets.

And how do you propose they get those BETTER assets? By letting their current assets walk for nothing?

James Jones hates 2nd round picks he wants no part of them.

Well that then eliminates an entire category of assets with which we could build, and it handicaps us relative to every other team.

BTW, Jones himself was a second round pick.

I sense some major personal insecurity issues here on the part of Jones. His ego is killing the franchise.

Suns not expected to show any interest in players being released like Trey Burke and Tim Frazier

4:13 PM - 6 Feb 2020

So, are they just going to go 7 deep until all of their players get hurt, and then just trot out a semi-pro team for the rest of the season?

Those who purchased season tickets and who are now stuck with such semi-pro team ought to sue.

Continuity? Gambo said if they don't pick up options on evryone that has their contract end, the Suns end up $28 million of free cap space. He said the Suns want to take their swing this summer. So if we do not resign all those guys, how is that embracing continuity?

Continuity is great when a team is winning and has a set roster. The Suns do not have this luxury. Even good teams make changes when necessary.

Having the main core that is under contract is establishing continuity. Book, ayton, oubre, bridges, rubio, and some potential good players like cam and ty jerome are some examples of players we can build around.

Adding players that can contribute isn't taking away from the continuity of the main guys.

I'm not surprised how James Jones operates but I think they could do a better job of telling fans what they are doing.

Fans and media shouldn't have to be glued to twitter trying to get a hint if they are making any moves. For goodness sake the Suns should be better at public relations. It seemed like the local media and most of the national media were in the dark as much as the fans. No wonder misleading stories get out like the Suns were taking calls on Oubre.

The only good news that came out of today is the Suns didn't trade Kelly.
We’re on the same page there. A little transparency would be nice.

Agreed. Do players and execs just come to az now for the paychecks? For crying out loud.. to be expected with zero culture in sight I suppose. Ugh. My only possible saving grace is Kyler Murray.

This is an odd tweet... I would assume that every GM talks deals to just about every other GM, if for no other reason than due diligence... seems like the Suns wanted this out there as some sort of lame damage control.
Agreed. This is Uber lame. Ladies and gentlemen, your Phoenix Sucks!

JC, we’re already better than last year and haven’t had a full compliment of a team for the entire season! Good lord.
JC, he’s constructed a team that got us here. Who the F cares why? It is what it is. Live in fantasyland if you wish.
