I don't know why anyone would expect this system to be more fair. Fairness doesn't enter into the equation. It's all about the benjamins, just like everything else.

No, both TCU and Baylor did not deserve to be in there.

It came down to numbers - 6 deserving teams for 4 spots.

B12 tried to game the system and got slapped.

The three final teams - OSU, Baylor and TCU all had pluses and minuses.

The committee took 2 teams from the weakest Power conferences. Big 10 and ACC. FSU barely beat the competition and their OOC schedule sucked. Sorry to blast the Big 10 conference ( being civil to you as I know you are partial to them ), but they are arguably as bad as the ACC.

Big 12 had at least 4 teams that were better than good. Baylor/TCU/Oklahoma/Texas/ etc.

Baylor ( Baptist)and TCU (Christian) are small town private religious schools. That is what they had going against them. If Texas and Oklahoma , 2 Big 12 schools were in this position, one of them would be in.The committee sucks. They forsook entertainment and worth for Big $$$$$$$$$$ for network.

BTW DJon, why hasn't this thread been moved to the proper forum? We are starving for coverage over their and this is the biggest NCAA story of the year. Gotta pump up the College Forum.

I think the issue for TCU is in the exact same system one week earlier they were #3. They go out and win, huge, and fall to 6. TOSU fans were complaining last week they were being downgraded because the QB was an unknown, but I don't think even they expected TCU to fall that far with a blowout win.

Still can't figure out the TCU/Baylor minuses. BTW, Ohio State lost to VaTech. The rest of their schedule of patsies belies their 1 game performance against a woeful Wisconsin team. If ant conference got screwed besides the Big 12, it was the SEC. The SEC teams cannibalized themselves, while Ohio State and FSU feasted on in conference punching bags, barely.

Oregon and Alabama deserved their positions. They went through their conferences in style.

Go back and look at the Ohio State and FSU schedules for yourself.

I have, many times. You are overvaluing the B12, and like many in the South, completely undervaluing the B1G. Seems to be a disease down there.

SEC? You mean the conference who's east Division champ was beaten by the worst team in the B1G? The conference that went 0-4 the last week of the season versus the ACC?

Baylor lost to a WVU team that isn't much different than the VT team OSU lost too. And OSU's loss was with a freshman QB pressed into service due to injury to starting QB. Baylor played a bad FCS, A horrid SMU and a bad Buffalo team in OOC. OSU would have gone undefeated with that schedule.

TCU - well, they lost to Baylor, so weren't even the conference champ.

The playoff was not created for the likes of TCU and Baylor.

How does one undervalue the Big 10?

The SEC with

Ole Miss
Georgia
Alabama
Miss State
Arkansas
Missouri
LSU

Please. All top 10 teams until they started beating on each other and the subjectivity factor took over with the pollsters.

Once Archie Manning left the committee, the South was done. Love to know the real reason Archie left.

Big 12 quality teams;

Baylor
TCU
Oklahoma
Kansas State

small town stigma.

You are doing it now - B1G is a good league.

As for your list - who did Baylor beat OOC? Why do you consider Oklahoma a quality team? Was it the win over 4 win Tulsa?

I do agree that being small private schools likely hurt Baylor/TCU. Lack of champion hurt even more.

The South was done??? Where exactly are Alabama and Florida located anyway?

SOUTHPaw believes that it should be Alabama vs TCU in one semi, Mississippi State vs Florida State in the other.

Surely you jest.

Alabama vs. Baylor
Oregon vs. TCU

but the networks would never allow that to happen.

BTW FSU is not "the South". They are in there as the defending MNC. Worst of the power conferences.

Two teams from a non-SEC conference will never happen.

This seems to be the byproduct of conference raiding the last few years. Big 12 became 10 when Nebraska & Missouri bailed. Big 10 became "whatever #" when they wooed Rutgers, Nebraska and Maryland over. Imagine the Big 10 or ACC being shutout by the conference that got plundered. It is Power Conferences or nothing. BYU, Houston and Cincinnati should have their phones ringing off the hook. Big 12 has to go out recruiting at least 2 teams over to their side. That will give them a CCG and the extra bucks the NCAA and committee go after. The elephant in the room is the Texas personal network hookup. That would conflict with a conference network.
