Are DVR'd shows captured in the ratings? You think those would be easy stats to get--you have the customers allow the cable/satellite companies to feed the recording habits to the networks and you have a seemingly fairly reliable system of understanding what people are watching. You'd think people would want to sign up for it because it's like voting--you watch, your vote is cast to keep it. You stop watching, your vote is cast to cancel it. It would be a much broader sample than what neilson (used to?) monitor.
I doubt it. Ratings are there to attract advertisers and advertisers know that the people watching a recorded show aren't watching the commercials (for the most part).
