So, AZ DES sent me a notice for Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment Notice. I do need some skills updates, training opportunities, etc. Looking forward to it.

My problem is, I don't have a dream job, or interest, that I want to do. Long story short, I had a golf interest, and what I thought was a solid plan that others in my community followed. Then Title IX hit, and they disbanded the National Champion achieving golf team, even though there were Men's and Women's teams. No one knew what Title IX meant at the time. So I go meat my counselor, who taught programming, and asked what I wanted to do with my life. I said I didn't know. So he signed me up for a bunch of computer classes. LOL. What I learned is how to build financial software from scratch for businesses. Something that was needed then, but Quick Books and other software made obsolete today!

I worked IT for 15 years, in a VERY narrowly specific skill set, of which I was told only two places in the world did what we did for the military, and when I moved to support my wife's career, no one needed those skills.

So I just work wherever I could. Doing whatever. Realtor (not successful at all), Flower Delivery, Sales and Arranging, Customer Service, Payday loan manager, informations specialist, etc.

Almost 60 with skills so varied and unimportant, that I find myself basically unattractive to employers. I can do ANYTHING, once you show me once. Just no one wants a generalist in a specialist world.

So it will be interesting process, or not. I am looking forward to seeing if this is just a "go to these places apply here, etc." Or will I actually get some help finding what I would like with the skills I have or need to acquire?

A not too close acquaintance of mine works at Harrah's Ak Chin in Maricopa as a Black Jack dealer. You should look into that at Harrah's or Vee Quiva which is pretty close to you. He make some really good money (>$75K) and has a very generic skill set as well.

Harrah's has a 2-week training program that has placement upon passing:

Changed my resume from traditional to Functional. Took quite a few hours. Working on a google certificate to upgrade skills. It is general. Gives you a bit of everything in labs, like UNIX operations, Microsoft Active Directory, etc. You won't be an expert, but you can at least see and do some basic tech. It's more about familiarizing.

Best of luck. Sounds like you are on the right track.

I applied for this job. My nephew in law forward this application to me. I thought I’d share. It’s not a full time job but it’s something
I think @Joe Mama did a similar job like this for awhile. If you want to ask him any general questions.
