All that flurry of trade activity around us, and we stand pat, and get a potentially great player. WOW! Here's something I was considering last nite after the pick. The 49'ers, our main rival at this point (Rams & Seahawks not a threat yet) beef up their O-line which tells me they're going to pound the ball w/ Gore. A style of play Singletary approves of. Alex Smith doesn't scare me as a QB either w/his arm or his feel for the game. So, how do the Cards respond?? By improving our run-defense with a solid run-stuffer who will push/collapse the pocket. The quickest ticket into the play-offs is still to win your division. Day 2 should be very interesting. LB?? CB?? WR?? GO CARDS!

Would have been happier with a Hughes and Cody or a Wilson and Cody combo. Two 3-4 teams in need of a NT and one that could have taken Williams all passed. That makes me nervous. He also didn't turn it on until his senior year. That also makes me nervous. Cautiously optimistic it works out.
