I suspect it is entirely because of Shamet and Payne both being out. He isn't a ball handler but at least he is familiar with the team.

It's not just Payton but Shamet as well except for one game where he flashed. Suns need another ball handler in the back court that can shoot.

The Wizards are trying to trade Spencer Dinwiddie but he is not really a shooter. There are more reasonable options like Cory Joseph and Raul Neto. I wonder if the Suns would consider one of these players.
