Re: For the Fans

As an outsider, I think part of the Cardinals problems begin with Bidwill not spending money, its as if hes just waiting for the new stadium to open before he gets serious about this team. The NFC West at the begining of this season was wide open, hell it still is, I believe Seattle is playing well but will probably taper off , Matt Hasselbeck is far from being a leader who is consistant. Hell 8-8 could win the west this year. So I ask you the card fans, who is more to blame, ownership, coaches, players....maybe a combination?
A combination. What's funny is that over the past five years, Bidwill is usually in the top half for NFL salaries, so the reputation for being cheap isn't really true.
Granted we are sitting on 10 million in cap room, but we were spurned by the free agents that we wanted and the ownership wanted to invest it in some of the good younger players on the team that are about to be free agents. LB Ray Thompson was just signed to a four year extension, and the team is working on getting LT L.J. Shelton resigned, and CB David Barrett.
Coach Mac is a motivational-type coach, but he is a major failure managing games and hiring assistant coaches. Joe Greene, defensive line coach, has not made one DLineman better since he has been coach here, and Defensive Coordinator Larry Marmie calls the worst defensive game I've ever seen on a regular basis. Mac also doesn't make personel moves quick enough, and is too loyal to "his players".
The players....well like every team, we do have good players. But the problem is that we lack good players at certain key positions especially defensive line, corner, and quarterback. We need IMO, at least 3 more good defensive lineman (at least 2 of those as starters), 2 good corners (one as a nickel back), and a franchise passer (like a Byron Leftwich
).
But we have nice young talent at LB (Ray Thompson, Levar Fisher, Gerald Hayes, La Var Woods), Receiver (Anquan Boldin, Bryant Johnson, Jason McAddley, Kevin Kasper), Offensive line (Leonard Davis, Pete Kendall, L.J. Shelton, Cameron Spikes). Tight end is a strength with Freddie Jones and Steve Bush, as is fullback with mammoth plow man James Hodgins. This team is extremely young and it will grow with time, and if the right moves are made, it can be a pretty good team.
