IF AND WHEN HEALTHY...
I'd snap up him as DC and be done with it.
1000x this!

Unless Dick LeBeau has changed his mind in past couple days, he is not interested in becoming a position coach, only defensive coordinator.
I don't think LeBeau would be just the LB coach. I'm more inclined to believe that he would be the mentor to the new DC.
LeBeau isn't an idiot, and despite his claim that he could coach for another 30-40 years, knows that his time in the NFL is coming to an end. So if he can develop a young coach (I'm thinking Bettcher) to be an outstanding DC, I think he'd gladly take that role.
Also, even though his main forte when he wasn't DC, there is little question he knows his LB's. He's been attending the combines and pro days and giving personal workouts for linebackers for years and has a keen eye for LB talent.
the 30-40 years was written by the onion.
Point still stands...he knows he doesn't have much longer in the NFL.
AbsolutelyI'd snap up him as DC and be done with it.

Possible? They need to lock him up before he gets to the exit door.Mike Jurecki @mikejurecki
>> RT @gerrydulac: LeBeau will talk w Bruce Arians tomorrow about possible spot on Cardinals staff. Won't be LB coach. Titans could be next.
BA should know better than anyone how difficult it would be for a long-time coordinator to relinquish the exhilaration of heading up the game plans during the week and calling the plays on game days/nights.
Just seems surreal and supremely weird to think that BA would want a DC who has never called a play in a NFL game over a legend like Dick LeBeau. LeBeau has just suffered the humiliation (like BA did) of wearing out his usefulness to the Steelers. That HAS to sting. I just can't imagine he would be all agog about accepting a role other than the one he has mastered for decades.

We'll have to see what transpires from tomorrows meeting between BA and LeBeau. Very well could be that LeBeau is offered the DC position for 1-3 years while he mentors someone like Bettcher to take over.
Alot of what I've read and heard is that LeBeau approached the Steelers and informed them that he was resigning and wouldn't renew his contract with them. Couple reports I've seen mentioned that the Steelers were caught by surprise by this. There was one report as well that mentioned there infighting within the organization which helped lead to LeBeau's decision.
I don't know if he actually suffered any humiliation.
This is all speculation on my part because I have read the same things as you, Hypothesis. I just think this is all a bit too convenient to the Steelers. I mean, for years it has been some sort of public secret that their linebacker-coach Keith Butler had been promised the job when LeBeau stepped down. A lot of the players that LeBeau made successful, and had success with for years, are know either retired, departed for other teams or not as effective anymore. I could easily see their general manager Kevin Colbert thought that now would be the right time to move on from LeBeau, promote Butler and let him prove that he can build an equally dominant defense.
Again, this is pure speculation on my part but I think it was interesting how LeBeau multiple times had to assure anyone that he did NOT retire but simply resigned from the organisation.
By the way, I know that LeBeau has used a different variation of the 3-4-scheme than Bowles. To me, this is really a moot point as I have no doubt that LeBeau knows more about defensive football – ANY defensive football (schemes, formations, blitzes, coverages, anything) – than most people can learn in a lifetime. Please sign him, Keim!
Not sure if anyone was listening this morning but Wolf mentioned that LeBeau's wife lives in Cleveland. She never moved to Pittsburgh, and Dick commutes back and forth to be with her. (boy... that sentence feels like something that can get me banned.)
Apparently there is a report he won't take a position west of Mississippi River as it's to far from his family.
Go Cards!!!
yeah I think it was a pitt reporter. Also said he wont be a LB coach. Not sure if anyone was listening this morning but Wolf mentioned that LeBeau's wife lives in Cleveland. Maybe she is ready to leave Cleveland for the sun of Phoenix.
Lots of people come this way in their late years.
The quote was that she has a very good job in Cincinnati. Or Cleveland. Wherever the hell it was.
Dang, you'd think she'd be able to retire by now.
