Eddie Freeman was actually a DE coming out of college. KC tried to make him into a DT but later put him back at DE where he registered 4 sacks his rookie year. He was then mostly injured all of last year as he was only active for 5 games. Very highly rated coming out of college, and switched between DE and DT in his first few years more then Bryant ever was. I think KC gave up on this guy way to fast.
Here is the sporting news scouting report on him.
"Freeman is a player who is still a little raw, especially in pass rushing, but has a good upside. He has good size and speed, and he is athletic for his size. He needs to add some more weight and lower body strength. He is a hard worker and won't give up on a play. He is much better suited to play in a one-gap system. His technique needs some improvement. He doesn't have very many pass rushing skills at the moment. He has a tendency to play to upright and lose leverage and strength in the process. If he keeps improving and adds to his frame, he can be a very good tackle."
