Linton Johnson was signed to a 10 day contract and will be in uniform against the Celtics...I just had it texted to me from KTAR

Can teams still release or buy out players they don't want?

Yes, in fact Seattle HAS to drop a player soon. As they have max+1 on their roster.

I could see us pouncing on barry or one of their potential other scrapped wings.

This guy was in SA's roster in 04-05, I remember some SA fans talked about him. They signed him in hope of he can learn from Bowen.

He has a reputation of defending and rebounding. Playing for NOH in last 2 seasons, his stats r pretty nice for a bench role, 18 mpg for 5.3p and 4.3r in 05-06, 13 mpg for 4.2p and 3r. He makes 1/3 of his 3p attempts. He is not a good shooter at the beginning, but his FG% has been improved significantly last season to 49%.

All I can say is, he has a lot more NBA experience than Tucker or DJ Strawberry. Hopefully he can provide quality off-bench minutes with consistency.

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't get off the bench at all. If the Suns were not forced to carry 13 players, he would not have been signed. The Suns are still waiting to see who else becomes available. Any player waived before March 1 is eligible for the playoffs, so we still have a week to find out.

I wouldn't mind if the Suns kept him and added a player with veteran PG skills. I'm thinking there will be some let go.

Is the Barry rumor for real? To win playoff, we need defence. Barry doesn't defend well at all.

We have already got Nash, Bell, Barbosa, 3 all time great 3p shooters, all key players, all occupy major playing time and shots. 1 more shooter wouldn't really help us.

Barry has PG skills and he can still shoot. I'm not saying there might not be a better option that comes up. IMO, the Suns can still use another shooter especially when Raja is off.

Barry would be great just for his familiarity with playing with a dominant big for years. He is a better PG than LB and can back up Nash pretty well. One of the best 3p shooters. He'd contribute, no doubt.

When does our $8 million Trade exception expire?
One year from the time of transaction?

That's my understanding but I don't know the dates the two TE's expire. I definitely think the two TE's (James Jones and KT) will be good until the draft and KT until the summer.

Just had a quick look, Linton Johnson is pretty much similar to Ariza, stats wise, 6-8, size, athletic. Ariza had a little bit more experience.

I wouldn't mind to add Barry, just I don't think we have enough playing time around to share.

What's the saying, you can never have enough shooters. I think it's true especially since Barry has play making abilities. I know the Suns were interested in him way back when he was drafted.

plus, him being a Spur and knowing all their gameplan couldn't hurt either
