There are several new things that just might come from the loss of this game.

1. Most notably, future games against Vince Young will not rely so heavily on his inability to pass himself out of trouble. Today's game plan was to make him have to pass to win. We accomplished that, but he played with enough moxy to pull out a surprising and exciting win. I still think that playing a containing defense with gap control is essential when playing the Titans and Young, but I believe that a few more well disguised blitzes worked into the mix is necessary to keep VY out of his comfort zone. Giving Vince time to locate and throw to receivers is no longer a good enough option to rely on for winning against him.

2. The EFFORT given by our defense was superb. This is a game we normally would have lost by 25 points or better. They kept us in the game until the very last play. That speaks volumes for them considering some of the performances they had last year, and earlier this year.

3. The EXTREMELY BITTER taste in the mouths of all Cardinals players will probably go far toward inspiring better and better play during this playoff run. This game will not be forgotten easily, nor should it be. I believe that the guys will have to PLAY THAT TASTE OUT OF THEIR MOUTHS. By the time next Monday night's game rolls around and they can take the field again, I believe that the boys in Cardinal Red will be an EXTREMELY surly bunch, who will play with even more focus and with a considerable amount of hostile intent due to having that taste linger on all week. I have a feeling that PLAYING ANGRY is a term that will be used to describe this team for the remainder of the season and post season. I don't know that this team has EVER been described as such, but that is exactly how I believe they will react to this loss. While we have played with considerable skill and finesse, I really think that we may now see the kind of brutality that the Ravens, and the Steelers bring to a game when the Big Red takes the field. That, I believe, is something good for us Cards Fans to look forward to, and for our opponents to FEAR !!!!!

Catfish,
I agree that this will make our bunch play tougher next week.
But dont agree we normally lose this game by 25 pts or better, ....with Warner we normally win this game by 10 pts or better IMO.

You missunderstand me. My intentions were that considering we notified our back-up QB the he would start cold without getting the normal reps that the starter gets. And considering we were on the road against one of the hottest teams in football, AND that our line-backing corps was very thin and hurting. THAT was the set of circumstances where we normally would have lost by 25 or more points.

At first I was extremely disappointed we lost this game but after having a night of sleeplessnes to mull it over I agree with some ofthe assessment that this game couldbe a godsend for the team. To go into a hostile environment such as Tennessee and play a good game only to lose on a last second play has to fire up this team. Bring on the Vikes.
