Giants, Raiders, Jets, Saints, Titans and Colts all need QB's IMO.

We can make it happen if we want to.

My fear is that we will give this all another year. Then..... after another pick in the mid teens, we do a massive tear down.

Yep ….thats my fear as well..my dream scenario is we throw two second round picks at the Vikings for mcarthy …who Walter Mitchell says “would be perfect for petzig offense….thing is the vikes would be wise to take advantage of his rookie contract …..

Well, if Walter, the retired English teacher, says so, it must be true.

Oh wow. You did not just quote Mitch as an authority.

The problem for Monti is we had 2 high picks in a row. He traded out of one of them to load up and we had a good draft but so far there's not one guy in that draft that's a wow guy. Garrett Williams might be, the more I see him the more I like him but Will Anderson was that guy. 2 years 18 sacks and a ton of TFL's.

But I get what Monti wanted to do he wanted to build the OL. I just hope Jonah is healthy last year, it's pretty rare a first round OL comes available that early in their career you have to wonder why he did and maybe we're seeing why

I’ve said it many times before your draft picks should not be expected to be all -pro in year one. You have to give them year one ( or more ) if injuries play a role.
How many of you were surprised to hear MHJ has more yards than his dad’s rookie year? Color me shocked.
That’s why I’d love to sign an experienced free agent pass rusher. We need one next year to step immediately step in.

That’s all well and good, but to then take what looks like only the 3rd best LT in the draft class is a problem.

Oh I agree but when you release good players you had and don't sign replacements in FA that are as good, you create that situation.

I'm willing to give Monti another year there's lots of positive signs we're moving in the right direction.

The issue is we were sitting there at 6-4 with the division in our reach, and just folded like paper, and it wasn't really a case of injuries taking us down, we just didn't get it done.

Really the Minnesota game changed the season. Seattle punched us in the face and we responded the next week and should have won the game and lost, I don't think we ever recovered from that

Tell me more…

The main thing is the team competes. THat wasn't always the case under Kliff.

We're in most of the games this year, basically Washington and Green Bay were blowouts, the rest were at least somewhat competitive. Even the 2 double digit Seattle losses were games we were in just too many mistakes.

We're I think -2 in points so it's not like our wins were flukey.

Improve the front 7 so we can get to the QB, add some speed on offense we could be a playoff team next year.

We COULD have been this year is the frustrating thing, it was right there we just folded

The end of this season looks almost exactly like the end of Kliff’s tenure here. Good, motivated teams don’t collapse like this. Monti put together the roster than collapsed over the second half of the season. Gannon coached a team that collapsed against an awful Panthers team.

Saying there are good signs around another late-season collapse just doesn’t compute.

In the three years before this one the Chargers were 24-17. The past three years the Commies/WFT were 19-31-1.

The Arizona Cardinals were 19-32.

You have no idea what you’re talking about.
You should look in the mirror sometimes. You might find out quite a bit about yourself.

That’s right our draft picks should be middling and barely make the roster on a talent depleted team.

Talk about low expectations

For pass rusher resigning Browning, a first round rookie and Ojulari coming back should do wonders... most of the guys who hit free agency have warts and are not usually any better than Browning is. Putting a first rounder across from him has got to be worth at least 3 more sacks a season for Browning... which gets him into double digits.
But I might even draft a second edge guy in round three or four

No. Just the simple fact that expecting every top draft pick to be top ten at his position right away is an infantile mindset.
It happens, and we are way past due for our world beater rookie. But most guys take time to develop into pros and should show improvement over their first few years.

The Cards have a higher DVOA than the Rams, Hawks and Bengals despite moderately less talent. Next year is the big one.

Not every pick just one.

Give me a rookie of the year or pro bowler.

Especially when you trade picks to get your guy.

So far after two years of picks we don’t have one.

Two 1st round picks is where the McCarthy convo would start but they do not want to trade McCarthy.
