From 1947 to 1958 the 12 NFL teams alternated selecting the toop overall pick in the drat with a bonus selection. The Cards bonus was 1958. Who did they pick?

Welcome aboard ViSSiV. How did you know this one?

He's John Roach.

Charley Johnson once threw for 428 yards against Pittsburgh in 1963. Adjusted for inflation that would be like passing for 647 yards today.

Who's John Roach? Awesome stat on ol' Charley. He was great if only he didn't have a penchant for comleting passes to the other team. Other than that he was a great one.

Actually. Yes is was google a few weeks ago when I was trying to look up Plummers TD/Interception ratio difference from the time he was here and when he went to Denver. And that King Hill was pretty bad too. He had 37 TD/ 71 Interceptions....lol ....but was mainly A punter I beleive.
I am sure someone would like to know this too. Plummer went
90 TD/ 114 INT with the cards and with Denver was 71 TD/ 47 INT

John Roach shared the Cards QB duties with Hill for two years.

Roach and Hill were the two Cardinal QB's when the team moved to St.Louis in 1960. That was the year the Cards selected Charley Johnson in the 10th round of the draft and Hill and Roach's days at QB were over.

Strange but true: John Roach's high school lists him as a pro QB for the Bears as well as the Cards not realizing that Chicago had two NFL teams prior to 1960.

Good stuff Duck. You know your Card's history man. I'm impressed. Did you have to use google to find all of this out?:)

I used it some to refresh my memory. That was a long time ago.

Those two guys were the first Cardinal players I knew of as a little kid and started following the team when they moved to St.Louis. Later Bobby Joe Conrad, who was also on the team with them in Chicago, became my favorite player.

I also used to own a book written in 1975 called the history of the Cardinals by a St.Louis Sportswriter. It covered every season including short recounts of every game played from 1960-1974. I also used to go to the library on Saturdays to read the previous weeks St.Louis Post Dispatch to read about the Cardinals.

If you like this kind of stuff try to get a Media Guide this year. The team used to give them to season ticket holders. Now I think you have to special order one.
