When Amare stood up, Diaw stood down. I really don't know what to make of Diaw except I think if he were the Suns starting center again, he would stand up again. However, obviously this is a risky gamble to make. I do think Diaw is all about team basketball. I think if another team were to make Diaw there center he would produce. He has the makings of a good high post center, but he also has some devastating inside moves when he decides to apply them. Sometimes I think the Suns should pass Diaw the ball inside and then go run and hide. If Diaw cannot pass the ball from underneath the bucket I am sometimes amazed at the moves he can make, even against Duncan.

Since Nash dominates the ball 90% of his court time, Amare and Diaw fight for the primary high post spot and it's a disaster. Cut Nash's ball handling to half, alternatingly place Amare and Diaw on low and high post, I don't see any problem for their coexistence.

The problem is that Diaw has negative trade value, so there's no way the Suns can improve through a Diaw trade unless they include other players.

Your right. This is the fundamental reason to keep Diaw and move a player with more market value... then hope Diaw plays like he did the first season in Phoenix.

Or combine a high-value player with Diaw in the same trade, and let someone else worry about his question marks.

Without gutting the team I'm not sure who the other player would be. I certainly would not recommend moving Diaw and Amare in the same trade.

When dealing with guys with big contracts and poor stats, the temptation is dump like he's a hot potato. However, even if he's not productive, it is awfully hard to unload a bad contract except for another bad contract.

Generally, it is a better strategy to keep working with the guy and showcase him so maybe somebody will bite. Panic selling simply doesn't work except with guys with expiring contracts.
