Between now and whenever the Pittsburgh Steelers make a decision about the quarterback position we are going to continue to hear every pundit share their thoughts on whether or not the Steelers holding out for Aaron Rodgers is a good idea. One pundit who definitely thinks it is a bad idea if former NFL player and FS1 analyst Emmanuel Acho.
Acho said, "The Steelers are making a monumental mistake waiting on Rodgers. He's a band-aid on a situation that needs constructive surgery."
A bold statement for sure but he's not wrong. However, to continue Acho's medical analogy, there is no surgeon available to do that surgery this year, so a band-aid is the best one the Steelers are getting. If there was a Jayden Daniels-type player in this draft, we'd be pounding the table for the Steelers to ignore Rogers and sell the farm to go up and get them. But none of the other quarterbacks Acho mentioned are anything more than a band-aid this season and some are objectively worse than Rodgers.
No matter what Pittsburgh does this offseason, it's going to be a triage year with that major reconstruction coming in 2026.
