I think that's good...Germany seems to embrace the league much more so than any other European country...I think they could add another team to Deutschland

They love Hockey there as well! I just got back from a vacation there a few weeks ago(I was born there)..I think that all those GI's have something to do with it as well...but it seems to grown in popularity every year...

EnglishChannel,

There is an old expression when sizing up the German psyche and it goes like this:

"vee didn't lose da var.....vee only come in second"

Another team in Germany gives them another chance to come in first, second and third.

Nice to hear from you and to know that the fan base reaches as far as the UK........

Actually, depending on what war you're talking about, that isn't quite true. The Germans most certainly did NOT lose WWII. Their leadership just happened to turn into gutless cowards in the end. The soldiers felt betrayed. They were still fighting well and held a ton of extra territory.

Watch it on the Germans, bub! I'm English and Irish, but I'm also German!:D

Spanky just called you English Channel....now that's funny.

What happened to Englands team in NFL Europe?

I always root for the Scottish Claymores since I'm a fifth Scotch....a fifth Scotch...get it.....no really most of my ancestors are from Great Britain.

I think you need to review your history, Bud. The Germans over-extended themselves and got their asses kicked!

A few fanatics loyal to Hitler held out until the end, but the Soviets and Americans cleaned their clocks.

And my dad's family is German also. :)

Operation Barbarosa did the Germans in...when a quick victory in Russia did not happen(especially given the early success and rapid German advance) and the winter set in the German could not sustain the war on 2 fronts. The beginning of the end was Stalingrad.....But now back to football...

we did have the London Monarchs but they just could not get the crowds and the franchise got moved (just like Barca) - Scottish Claymores are the nearest we got any they only just missed getting cut - the NFL is marketed really badly over here

oh and Stout - dont me started on the war or i will send my Grandparents and father over to live with you - they are still looking for a home after the Germans bombed them out !

Holding on to Stalingrad and losing the entire Sixth Army lost them the war.

Stout...........easy, easy!

But I must take you up on the comment that the Germans didn't lose WWII. Leadership aside (and I appreciate that Hitler was Austrian), their soldiers were definitely Germans and the country certainly didn't win the war.

Statements like yours make you sound like that Minister of Information from Iraq!

Maybe

Maybe the reason Hitler hedged on the invasion of England was that actually most English are from Germanic Anglo-Saxon ancestry.......us Welsh/Scots/Irish dudes like me are Celts......Hitler really got his arse kicked in the Battle of Britain air wars and some of those great pilots were Americans.

Hitler definitely admired the British and wanted them on his side. He actually felt that invading Britain was too risky until he had eliminated the threat from the East.

It didn't quite work out for him.

Aren"t Anglo-Saxons descendants of the Angles, Saxons and Jutes who came from what is now Germany?

And English is a Germanic language.

Sorry English Card........maybe that was a bad slam....but you'll have to admit....some Welsh and Scots and Irish don't call themselves English.
