not all the players, was there a decline in talent maybe, experience maybe?

But these players are not put in a position to succeed. I remember the Deuice deal this offseason, HC bashing him with all his might at several news conferances, If Deuce got hurt he was out in the cold,

guess what Deuce, Lyle, Breaston, Patrick, Hayes, THT, most of this team is not signed long term and they are quality NFL players, with SB experience.

sometimes pressure motivates sometimes it pisses a guy off. they seen what happened to matty, edge, and others!

they seen what other teams gave to Q, Rolle and Dansby!
and they see how other teams treat players. Remember the SF trip Kurt took!

I can't think of what HC treated Whiz like this as a player? Glanville?

I think really you have the essence of the problem.

In baseball they call you the manager, in football you're the HC but I think baseball has it more accurate.

A head coach is really a manager, if you had a boss like Whiz it's not the best way to always deal with every person on a team.

It works for some, and I'm sure it works to an extent very well but it does not work for everyone on a team, some people need support some a kick in the butt and some both.

That's what good managers do, the right thing for the situation, Whiz is much too dog eat dog for me, you have to temper your approach based on what the situation calls for.

I've seen this kind of HC or manager before in hockey, and it works great for a few years then the players tune it out and out goes the coach.

The goal is to put the players you have in the best situation possible to win the game, that means no system is sacred, that sometimes you need to support people rather than kick them in the butt and most of all you need to know when you might be wrong and fix it.

Whiz is trying to bend the players to his system, bend the system Whiz, be creative, go to a 4-3, make Wilson a hybrid LB and put a real FS in there in his place to cover, then bring him from a lot of other places.

On offense, learn how to run a screen pass, practice it until they puke, get it right, get a few good plays absolutely right then just alternate them based on randomness and down and distance, if they have 8 in the box it doesn't mean you can't run it means whatever you do run better be aces.

You can't keep throwing it downfield, your QB can't do it, maybe a couple times a game with PA, sure but most of the time we're going to have to grind it out, but we can and should use the short passing game as a supplement to our run game.

Take your playbook and shred it Whiz, Warner is gone, you need a new one, smaller and focused on things this team can do and if they can't do it, practice until they can do it.

not what but how

Its not what he did, but how he did it, and is still doing.

Does John Skelton really need more pressure stacked on his rookie shoulders this week?

What if Deuce came out and held several pressers and said his Head Coach has had the worse season He ever seen? and didn't earn his money cause his mind was not in football shape?

But Whiz is under contract, Deuce was not! and by the way Deuces 8th ranked FA guard was underated. Hadnots 20 something FA ranking was accurate. Of course Hadnot and Faneca have not earned their 11.5 million + combined this year.

Deuce and Lyle have earned their 3 million that is split between them. Breaston got the 1st round tender and a lil more $.

Look at what Joey signed for! DD! AW?

the have and the have nots is weird to me.

same in RB carries? We just seen what happens when you pass all the time with a great Passing QB and a terrible passing QB.

yea I can't think of one good thing about Whiz's performance this year as the AZ Cardinals HC with personell and operation powers.

please feel free to post one good thing? i'm craving it!

I don't see how Whiz holding players accountable and working hard is a bad thing. There was no reason for Lutui to get up to 390. He started from game 1 so what exactly did Whiz do to him. He basically said get in shape or you're not playing. What was wrong with that? I'm sure if Leinart came in worked hard, put time into film study, and learned the playbook he would have had a different outcome with Whiz. It's not like Whiz decided, you know I don't like ML's pretty boy looks, I'm going with DA. Reputations are earned, good or bad. It's just like I don't like DRC complaining about the defensive systme and his poor play. The system does stink but that's no reason to not play to your highest ability. I like DRC but he seems to have shut it down a little bit.

Fitz, AW, DD are the only drafted Cards to be resigned long term in 4 years under Whiz.
You have brought this up repeatedly.

Just how many "drafted Cards have been re-signed long term" in 22 years in Arizona? This isn't a Whisenhunt caused problem...

We don't know the private conversations between Skelton and Whisenhunt, but I might guess...

'Don't pay any attention to what is said to the media jackels; you are our guy on Sunday so get ready! Oh, and by the way, we have got to give a few reps to Bartell just in case, understand!'

Of course Hadnot and Faneca have not earned their 11.5 million + combined this year.
You do know that the majority of Faneca's paycheck this season is coming from the New York Jets, don't you?

IMO you have nailed what is going on this season and in seasons past. The "We do this together" mantra seems to have left a couple of guys out. Mostly DG guys.

Dear Dennis Green (aka Rats),

You were a terrible coach for this team and managed a whopping 16 wins in your 3 year tenure. While we acknowledge your ability to bring in quality players, you were unable to maximize their potential. Your successor has done a fine job of making the most out of them (i.e. making Rolle a FS, essentially removing the "bust" tag off him) while bringing in fine players of his own and has taken this team to levels it has never even dreamed of.

Stick to making fishing shows and part time color analysis on Westwood One.

Respectfully,

You were a established coach for this team and managed a whopping winning percentage in your NFL tenure. While we acknowledge your ability to bring in quality players, you were unable to maximize their potential here do to the FO cutting your contract early. Your successor has done a fine job of making the most out of them (i.e. making Rolle a FS, essentially removing the "bust" tag off him and letting your guys take him to the Super Bowl) but can't seem to find any guys of his own and has taken this team to levels of despair not seen since Dave Mac.

Would you please comeback and tell him how to get and coach talent. He sucks at it.

Right on dude. In 10 years as HC of the Vikings he was in the playoffs 8 times. Not much of a stretch to think that he could have turned around this team as headcoach rather than just as the architect. You better stick with attacking me because Dennis Green is out of your league.

Whiz and Cards are Being used as the standard, on #30

Only the Bengals are currently on a worse streak than Whisenhunt's Cardinals, and whatever legitimate complaints might be made about the porous defense, the biggest reason for the nine-game Cincinnati skid is painfully clear: This team has entirely quit on Marvin Lewis.

Myself I have coaching skill sets and try to evaluate.

Loyalty: is Whiz's touted skill set, yet He has been loyal to Ex Steelers and treated Cards drafted platers like Dirt- Fitz, AW, DD are the only drafted Cards to be resigned long term in 4 years under Whiz. This after our first SB and a playoff run, They can't get out of town fast enough, and the players still here would rather save their best effort for a coach that gives a damn about them and their family. In Whiz they fear.
Fear and faith can not live in the same house.

Personell: Cut Matt after years in the system and after he outperformed all QB's on the team except KW by a mile in preseasons. Beanies still on the bench, just like Edge was. Edge was disrespected after putting 2- 1000 yard years in a row. Edge was a top 10 all time HOF RB that Q lobbied for. nobody expected Edge to sign in Arizona, and all NFL players see exactly why he should not have.

playcalling: unbalanced and predictable, whiz's claim to fame trick plays only work when a pattern has been established. In the 2008 playoffs Edges production preceded every trick play that surprised the playoff teams and resulted in big plays.

Organization, The RGC, PGC is not working. We are last in running and passing with little hope of getting better. Players go to the media and Whiz says "I wish they would have come to me first!" Q, Edge, Matt, Beanie, DD don't come to coach first for a reason. Can't seem to go to the silent coordinators or staff either. Whiz will shoot them, their family, burn their damn house down. just like Clint Eastwood on Unforgiven.

Could not agree more. AL

Denny had three years to turn the team around and he REGRESSED . In the three years Whis has been here he has IMPROVED the team and its reputation. Results buddy. Does not matter what Denny did in Minnesota, he royally sucked here. You cannot defend this because the facts are in front of you.

Ohh and nice try on the FTFY. That is the lamest **** Ive ever seen.

Sorry, not buying it. You throw around Whis as a great OC in Pittsburgh...blah blah blah and I can't use DG body of work which is much more substantial and compelling in Minny? Now who is throwing :lame: **** When Ken takes the Cards or any team to the playoffs 8 out of 10 years with his guys I will stop busting his balls. Green was handcuffed here by an inept prior Coach and his staff and a all time wors't GM in Graves. You know it and I know it. He still put talent on the team that turned this ship around. Whis now has his shot at doing the same. To date he has failed and is failing. Hope you can handle this truth because most likely he will not succeed with this ownership group. But I am sure you will make an apology for him. Go back to your TV dinner and watching your BIGGEST LOSER. I am done with you.

Against all odds and the buffoonery of Whis. You are hanging tough.:p

What are you Nuts...!!! I have been against Whiz since last year for some of his stupid moves. Thank God Kurt Changed some of the plays at the line of scrimmage. Whiz can not do HC + OC, We really miss Todd Haily...!!!

When Whiz Played Matt as little as he did, right after he stated that Matt was our Number one QB. I knew that he, Whiz was a very poor judge of talent.

No One of my former employer once told me If layoff, cut or release someone today you should have replaced him 3 months ago. In my opinion Whiz should have been cut during Preseason for his handling of FA's, QB's, Trades other than Rhodes. Which was a fluke in my opinion. In other words I wish that Whiz was gone. "Isn't it what have you done for me lately...!!!

You use Green's body of work in a different context i.e. Denny having more success in AZ than Whis, which any four-year old can tell you is false

Green was handcuffed here by an inept prior Coach and his staff and a all time wors't GM in Graves.

You do realize Whis works with the same staff under the same exact Gm right?

He still put talent on the team that turned this ship around. Whis now has his shot at doing the same.

Whis made more w/ Denny's guys than Denny ever did along with bringing his own players.

To date he has failed and is failing.

Really?
Hope you can handle this truth because most likely he will not succeed with this ownership group
.

I can handle many things. Just not posters who have zero objectivity in their arguments. You have been completely lambasted on this board the last couple of days because of your ridiculous assertions. But one thing takes the cake. The second you said Denny was a better coach than Whis is when you lost all credibility. Simple.

Go back to your TV dinner and watching your BIGGEST LOSER. I am done with you.

Wow...this is one step above calling me a stinky poopy pants.

By the way, tonight it was NBA on TNT.....

Wow, I can see people not likeing Whiz but now DG is being turned into a great hire and succesful coach in Arizona. Talk about stretching things to try and prove a point and I liked DG. But let's not make him out to be something he wasn't. The bottom line, and that's what it's about, is Whisenhunt has been the most succesful coach of the Arizona Cardinals history. Argue all you want, that's the case.
Do you think Jeff Fisher should be fired in Tennessee? They were picked as one of the favorites in the AFC. They've lost 6 in a row and their QB situation is in shambles. He's made as many SB appearances as Whiz, and aso lost at the end. How come i have the feeling if Fisher became available that many of the Whiz bashers would be clamoring for him to be hired? Whiz has been here 3 years, 8-8, lost in the last minute in the SB, and lost to the eventual SB champs at their place. Let's can his ass.

Who would you guys hire? I'd like to know who, in your minds, is going to come in here and have the success Whiz has had. And don't even try to start by using Haley because that will only show ignorance. He was a 4-12 coach in a horreendous division, and called his own plays last year, until Pioli went and hired the Patriots staff for him.

An example I give is where Hightower two games ago was obviously supposed to do a flea flicker back to the QB but just ended up keeping it and getting engulfed at the LOS. Busted play on a gutsy call. All thanks to the QB who wasn't looking when Timmy turned to pitch it to him.
Um, not the QB's fault on this play. THT took the handoff and ran into the entire defensive line who waltzed through our OL like they were paper mache.

Green's problem was that he coached tentatively. He coached not to lose. This is why we lost 2 key games against KC and CHI. However, Leinart played well under Green. That said, Whiz took the players brought in by Green and Mac and turned this team into a winner. Then he promptly cut most of them loose. Since then we've regressed. You can't deny this. This team is 97% all Whiz's hand picked players. Only 4 came before him. The rest he brought in.

What to you mean it's not much of a stretch to think he could turned the team around... WE SAW HIM TRY AND HE FAILED. 3 years is PLENTY of time to turn a team around. Tony Sporano and Bill Parcels both turned 1-15 teams around in the blink of an eye... ONE SEASON. Mike Smith turned a 3-13 team around in one season... DG couldn't do ANYTHING in 3 seasons... and his teams got WORSE the longer he was here. Not to mention you bring up his Viking teams which were PERENNIAL playoff disappointments who were STOCKED with talent and never did ANYTHING in the playoffs.

You talk about facts but refuse to accept the fact that DG's tenure here was pathetic and for all this bluster about his "talent evaluation", that evaluation led us to take a WR in the best QB draft in the last ten years because DG's brilliant evaluation of that situation was that Josh McCown was the answer. That's something to be lauded?! The rest of that draft was good, but the Fitz pick was the biggest screw-up this franchise has ever made. And the other picks? The guy gave us Dockett (who's so ridiculously over-rated on this board it makes me sick and immediately gave him a contract extensions he hadn't earned), Dansby, a guy who is a great player but was dicked around by the coach and the FO since year 2 and NEVER gave him the contract extension he earned as early as year 3) and drafted a WR over Future HOF QB.

Oh yeah, and he drafted a CB at 9 who couldn't play that position to save his life, he cut Pete Kendall who ended being a key cog of offensive lines that dominated, brought in Alex Stepanovich to anchor the line, which was absymal, signed Edgerrin James who was one year from being completely washed up and made future HOFer Kurt Warner look so bad that he lost his job to a guy who's now the 3rd string for a bad Texan team.

His FA signings outside of Berry were pathetic, He didn't bring in Q... he didn't bring in Wilson... he passed on franchise QBs because of Josh McCown and he made 1999-2001 Kurt Warner look like the biggest fluke in the history of Pro-Sports... oh yeah, and his team's record sucked.

Oh, yeah... one more thing... NO ONE HAS EVEN BOTHERED TO CALL HIM FOR A JOB SINCE THEN.

But yeah, Rats, he definitely could have turned this ship around given another year.

Good lord.

Whiz right now sucks, he just does, that dosen't mean he can't learn and stop sucking but anyone who argues he's doing even ok right now hasn't paid attention.

Even when we were winning we had a bad habit of taking games off, I never liked that and now they're taking almost all of them off.

He dosen't adapt fast enough to what he has to deal with, he's too invested in his system, he'll either get better at adapting what he does to what he has to work with and stop bringing in EX Steelers or he won't and then he'll get fired.

Personally I think he's too set in his ways to change, and the team has moved on and getting out of that requires so many moves to the good the only hope he has IMO is a lockout and roster turnover and good draft picks that hit it out of the park.

Absent that our holes will overwhelm him, especially if he dosen't adapt to them fast.

the ridiculous thing to me isn't bashing Wiz at this point. Dude deserves a heapful of scorn for this year, but the praise of DG is such revisionist history and really goes to prove one thing... some people can NEVER admit they're wrong about anything.

Agree 100%

You have to remember that Rats LOVED Josh McCown (I did like him too sadly) so he is right on Denny Greens coat tails with that selection. Maybe he thinks it gives them some kind of connection and he just can't let it go? :D
