Just heard it on Total Access. Raiders really want Dennis Green as coach. And the G-men officially signed Coughlin.

Why would Green go to Oakland? Working for Al Davis would be like working for Attila the Hun........they are probably the team with the least talent(and the most aging) in the league to work with.............who would want to live in Oakland etc. etc.?

Why would he go to the raiders:

1. I think a few years ago they had about the best record in the NFL since the AFL and NFL merged about 35 years ago..I thought they had the best overall record (win percentage) over the past 35 years - but my information may be dated.. I am sure they are in the top 5. It is a winning organization.

2. Green is a former stanford coach..and although Phoenix is closer to his home in San Diego...oakland would be the 2nd closest...

But yes...al davis is a psychopath. But....rumors are he wants one more ring..and may be willing to stay in the background more if he puts a guy like green in charge - but that is speculation..

Green has a longstanding relationship with Davis, he considers him a friend. He also has a longstanding relationship with bill Walsh, and Walsh has admitted that Davis calls him from time to time asking advice, and that he has advised Davis to hire Green. Walsh says he is NOT a consultant for the Raiders, but that he did tell Davis that Green would be a great hire.

Which makes me feel good about hiring him as a Cardinal if we do so.

One thing I noticed about the Billl Callahan interview that was posted yesterday, was Callahan saying that he made most of his decisions without consulting Davis, and I gathered from his comments that Davis had not "meddled" with him too much..
I sometimes wonder how much some of the posters here actually read posts other than their own.
