I agree but i doubt he will be there when we pick in the second

I actually think he will be there when we pick in the third. And he is the perfect fit for our system, not even a question.

I still hang on to my fantasy of getting Gronk/Gerhart somehow (at FB) and having a bruiser of an offense.

Just my opinon, but I dont think this deal gets done until after Rolle is safely signed with another team. I still hold out hope that the Cards are trying to get him back and he is their first choice.

Problem is the only real incentive for the Jets to do this trade is to avoid a $2million roster bonus due sometime next week. I wonder if the timing is actually going to work out for this??

Plus didnt they just tender Edwards with a 1st round offer?? Do they really want Boldin?

I would love Rhodes, he's an excellent player and is probably the best we can hope for out of Boldin. Young, good contract, and a position of need. There is nothing to not like about this deal.

As far as him getting benched, there isn't a lot to make of it. He played tremendously well when he came back.

Some Random Musings

First, do not (I repeat) do not reach for the digitalis until rumors do or do not turn out to be fact. (The Maalox folks get rich on this sort of stuff). Trying to do a "play by play" of free agency is just not worth the agita - whatever will happen will happen - play it as it lays.

Cards said to have spent a lot of time with safety prospects at the Combine (Hmmm: strategy or posturing)?

If we were to trade Q (which I definitely hope we don't do) keep your eye on that tweener WR/TE Dorin Dickerson (who ran a 4.40 along with other dynamite agility and exposiveness scores) at the Combine.

Another guy I'd keep my eye on is AJ Jefferson (whose profile reminds me a lot of DRC and Toler from the standpoint of pure athleticism - of course, whether he has DRC's and Toler's ball skills remains to be seen).

Question for you cap/salary geeks - assuming that despite the cap being gone, budgets will still mean something - Did the departure of Warner and Berry free up salary dollars and - if any of our high profile players were to end up elsewhere - would this give us more money to either retain a couple of key guys or go out into free agency and sign a couple?

One final thing - the BRS Draft Issue is pretty much up and running (I've been pretty silent on this board for the past few weeks because I've been busy assembling draft info for it. Go to the main site and navigate to the Draft Summary Page (which has all the important linkies on it).

Tendered a 1st and 3rd and I don't know why. Dude drops balls, runs pitiful routes etc. They are desperate for a quality WR.

Sound advice, I simply can't follow it though. I gotta know what's going on.......I'm a junkie.

Strategy. Johnson is a huge ???? and Ware is not signed and Rolle is almost good as gone.

I Like this a lot. If he can block at all then he is a faster Q.

Is he the one with the 44" verticle? I am also very interested in the kid for IUP. ST's phenom that can contribute immediately with Punt and KO returns as well as a gunner.

Joeshmo is more catious then optomistic. Of course he will explain it far better then I.

Figured that was the case. I almost started a thread Where is Jeff G but I saw a post talking about the trouble with your site.

Rhodes grades out as the #2 Safety in the league:

http://www.profootballfocus.com/by_...e=r&runpass=&teamid=-1&numsnaps=25&numgames=1

Quarterbacks have a 55.2 QB rating when passing to receivers covered by him.

Get it done. I hate to see Boldin go, and if he does then now I'm also a fan of any team he goes to, but if you can get Rhodes and a pick, you fill a need with a great player and get a pick that should wind up a starter. It's a no brainer.

That site is silly. It has Dockett as the #27 DE in the league with Alan Branch as the #10 DE in the league.

Alright I am convinced now. Let's do the deal. At first I was skeptical because I didn't know much about Rhodes. But all you guys have provided a lot of input as to why it's a good deal. Thanks.

Good Christ, thank the Lord someone else is saying this. There is cool stuff on that site, but their rankings are pure hokum. Look at their other charting stats, which are cool. But if you're looking for rankings, go to Football Outsiders.

The more I think about it, the more I like it. Pull the trigger on the trade and throw a bunch of money at Dansby, which is all he wants anyway.

But why overpay? Everyone may just rip this sentiment, because we aren't supposed to overpay to keep players. We have plenty of money to spend and we're only talking about one guy; sometimes you have to overpay. Also, considering our ILB depth, or lack thereof, I'd be willing to overpay to get him back. Then we can draft an ILB or two if we want, to groom as his successor.

Yeppers.

Plus Dansby is a captain for 2 straight years. He is a leader and so not the same chance of players resenting him getting over paid.

The ratings for each category has an inherent flaw just like all other rankings. Just as many as the conveluted math that footballoutsiers uses as well. Thats the problem with stats that use to much math, it becomes more flawed.

In the case of profootballfocus some of their rankings are inherently flawed in that sometimes smaller sample sizes gives a higher score. Therefore you cannot compare a player with 250 snaps to a player with 800 snaps. Only compare players with similar snap sample size.

Dansby has been the Captain for only one year, last year. The year before that was Hayes and Wilson.

I bet it will be a player and a draft pick. Wouldn't be surprised if LB Antwan Barnes or LB Derrick Johnson are being discussed.

Now these rumors make more "sense", but the pick would be lower..... 3rd? But as we know, trades often don't make sense in the NFL.
