So glad they lost today, you can truly say the classier team won without a doubt. Numerous late hits and head shots aimed at the quarterbacks and vulnerable receivers, Boldin's headbutt, and just a general attitude of playing with an intent to injury the other team. Every team has a couple of players/plays that could be deemed borderline dirty, but when the whole team is doing it, the coach is responsible.

I am so glad we fought through it and beat Harbaugh. His DB's couldn't cover our WR's which lead to a ton of penalties, which lead to lots of whining, which somehow lead to cheap and dirty play. It was with great pleasure that I watched them self-destruct during the second half and our team not respond to their agitations. I would not be surprised at all to see Kaepernick injured as retaliation to this style of play and the niners fans will have no one to blame but their own coach.

The loudest boos I have ever heard at U of P were when they showed Harbaugh up on the big screen.

I give my wife grief every single time Harbaugh is on-screen. Every time.

(She went out on a date with him when he was the Bears' QB.)

The 49ers showed what desperate thugs and cowards they are when they resorted to trying to injure, intimidate, and knock Stanton out of the game. Those hits were by far intentional. What was great was how they got even more desperate when Stanton keep going and making plays. When they realized they could not knock Stanton out of the game, the 49ers started trying to get ticky-tack with everyone else. That kind of frustration from a low-life team is always great to see as their bad behavior demonstrates that they are on a downward spiral. I look forward to Foles and the Eagles bombing away on their undisciplined gangsta defense next week. Hopefully, it will be the 1-3 49ers when it is over.

Totally agree with this post. It's rare when I say stuff like that is intentional but I totally believe it was today. All the sudden on one drive they decided to destroy Stanton and he still threw a TD anyway. I love what that says about our team. We never gave into it. We just beat their ass.

They laid some punishing hits today that some of which I thought were legal. It was about time Q got called for a PF though. He pulled that crap when he played for us.

Anyone remember who he head butted?

Niners try to take out our QB and PFT says they were bad calls.

How many times have we been on the other end of these kind of calls?

They used to invent penalties to call against us. Like the 10 second run off. Still have never seen that again.

Is it just me being bitter for all the times we got jobbed in the past?
In practice, NFL officials often go way too far in protecting the quarterback, at the expense of preventing defensive players from doing their jobs. That happened on Sunday in Arizona, where the Cardinals were handed 30 yards on back-to-back plays when 49ers players were flagged for hits on Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton. Former NFL head of officiating Mike Pereira said on the FOX broadcast that he disagreed with the calls, and so did I. The first was a hit from San Francisco’s Dan Skuta to the head of Stanton while Stanton was beginning to slide, but it’s important to note that he was just beginning to slide — he hadn’t actually touched the ground yet. And on the second, 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis used his shoulder to hit Stanton in the chest — exactly the way players are told to hit — and yet he was called for roughing the passer anyway. Those 30 yards helped the Cardinals march down the field for a touchdown. A raw deal for the 49ers’ defense.

PFT's position just infuriates me. It really doesn't matter whether he was in the beginning of his slide or not. The vicious nature of the hit would draw a flag 98% of the time. Same would apply to the Willis hit. The NFL has made it abundantly clear that they don't want QB's hit like that when they are in vulnerable positions. Was their any doubt that Stanton was sliding???? No. Furthermore, I've seen far less vicious hits than the one Willis levied that a yellow flag was thrown. Be prepared for the Cardinals to get a million bs calls against the Broncos. It's coming folks!

In trying to find a silver lining about the fact that we don't have a pass rush, we can't get roughing the passer penalties if we never touch him.

As I view it, the referees were trying to get control of the game when the Niners went after Stanton. It was clear the Niners were trying to take Stanton out of the game. They were also playing the game to injure or intimidate. This is one time I'm glad the referees stood up to the challenge.

I think it was the Redskin game yesterday, they called it on them as they had an injury in the last 10 secs and the guy couldn't get off the field.
Game over.

If you hit a name QB in the NFL like that, no one would say a word.

I thought the penalty on the Stanton's slide was justified, given they've been calling that for a good 5 years or more now.

It's hard to tell from the broadcast tape, but I thought the Willis hit was legal.

I didn't think any of the others were that questionable.

Agree! The first hit was an obvious attempt to take Stanton out of the game. The second hit was legitimate IMO, but how often have the Cardinals been penalized for exactly the same thing.

The penalty on Anquan Boldin was long overdue. As others have mentioned he got away with the same thing in the playoff game with Carolina last post-season. It was a penalty then and it was a penalty yesterday.

The hit by Skuta was brutal and totally cheap. Hits are all about angles and he obviously took the low angle and could have destroyed Stanton's career. The very next play after almost killing a guy...Willis was close enough to leading with the crown that I said PF before it was called. I guarantee the refs hear and see a lot we don't. Things may have been getting close to boiling over. Skuta set the tone...Willis did lead with his crown or it was very close...borderline without the Skuta hit but necessary right after...and the refs quelled it before someone got seriously injured. I can accept it...We have been called for these same things before...We had a lot of calls against us last week and we won. 49ers had plenty of opportunities.
