Lol. A single loss to a 9 win team doesn’t erase the fact that this team was left for dead and they were in a game with a legit playoff team until the end, which if they won would’ve potentially put them a game back of the lead for the NFC West.
Yes, this exactly what all the 49ers fans are feeling. They are all so proud of their brave effort vs a team with both starting tackles out (etc, etc). Cards had an unfair advantage of playing Titans full strength in week one, that is how Niners fans spinning it. Amazed they had a 10 point lead in a first half they dominated due to amazing QB play and coaching.

The Niners boards are just overflowing with Garoppolo and Shanahan love right now.

Watt ain’t coming back and we have to win two games without Hop to maybe get him back by the Conference Title game.
I don't expect to see either. Watt is a little more likely than DHop.

Well, that was fun! Sure glad I wasn't rooting for Grappolo and the Niners to win. Most 49ers fans hate Grappolo.

Go to Niners boards right now for a lot of fun.

They don't hate Jimmy G they hate that they can't win without Jimmy G because they took the wrong QB in Trey Lance. Nobody thinks Jimmy is good, he makes less difficult throws than any starting QB in the NFL because of the system. But when they stopped dorking around with giving Lance several plays or drives and just faced the reality that they were better with Jimmy in, they started to win. They were getting healthy too the DL, LB's and Kittle all coming back during the start of their run. but settling on one QB was a big part of it too.

If they had drafted Mac jones he'd be the QB right now IMO because he's as good or better as a rookie as Jimmy is and he's going to get better, Jimmy isn't going to get better.

Early in the year all the 49er boards were full of threads on when is Lance going to get the job, we can't win with Jimmy, and there were always a few outliers saying I wish you were right but you're all wrong he is not ready to play let alone start.

He may eventually be good I don't know but right now it's great for the rest of the league they didn't pick Jones. And I'm not saying Mac Jones is a superstar he's just a very smart, accurate young QB who can play that system perfectly.

I wonder if the Rams win the division, if the Card will come to SoFi in the Wild Card, or will it be Dallas?

That pretty much removes the Niners as any sort of threat for the division, so the Rams and Cards can finish things. Just win, baby!

Huh? You mean cards go to LA or Dallas? I think the worse they prob end up is 6th now that the Niners lost and the winner of our division ends up the 4 seed.

Better one of those places than Tampa or Green Bay. Neither stadium is very intimidating.

Also that he’s made a SB and 4-5 QB’s had career years with him.
I can’t help but to think if Trey Lance ends up being a miss, you’ll chalk way more of that to Lance than the Head Brotha in Charge that wears the snapback.

If Lance flames it’s on Shanahan whether it’s a coaching issue or not. He’s the one responsible for trading up and picking him.

At least his hat game is a better look than Nagy’s visor…

49ers lose. SF can no longer win the NFC West.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are extremely close to clinching a playoff spot. We would need any ONE of the following:

a) any ARI win/tie
b) any PHI loss/tie
c) any MIN loss/tie
d) any NO loss/tie
e) losses by LAR in the final two games (BAL/SF)

If the Vikings win out they will have 10 wins. We have the head to head tie-breaker with them, so a Viking loss should have no effect on the Cards, right?

Would hate to back in also. But will take it to keep the season going. Watt And Hop back for playoffs so who knows.
Winning your first 7-8 games hands you the luxury of getting into the playoffs. That’s earned.

September: So would you be happy if we made the playoffs? YES!

December: Would you be happy if we backed into the playoffs in week 16? Absolutely not. I’d rather miss the playoffs.

Silly.

Head to head across divisions doesn’t necessarily apply if there is a 3-way or 4-way tie. If it was just ARI/MIN, we would win it (but then PHI and NO would’ve already lost and so we’d already be in, and would just be for seeding purposes).

In a 3-way or 4-way tie, H2H only applies if one team swept the others, or one team drops out if it got swept by the others. Since we didn’t play PHI or NO, the H2H win over MIN isn’t counted and it goes to the next step, conference record, where we would end up behind MIN. If it ended up as a 4-way tie for the 5-seed, it would go:

5) MIN
6) PHI
7) NO
Out) ARI

It is the only way we miss the playoffs now. Take out the Vikings, and we are the 7-seed at worst.

May seem unfair, though it also wouldn’t be fair to penalize the Eagles or Saints by leaving them behind simply because they hadn’t played us or the Vikings.

Vikings. We have 12 other ways to clinch the playoffs, but fewer paths to the division.
Saints, Eagles, and Vikes have to lose one game for us to clinch. Eagles got Giants and WFT twice, Vikes got the Rams, Packers, and Bears (oh my), and the Aints got the Panthers, Dolphins and Falcons.

I don’t see Eagles or even the Saints losing and Vikes got the hardest schedule of them all. Vikes lose and we in. We should’ve took care of our business to control our destiny but it is what it is.

Edit. Oh wait all three has to lose Sunday??
